Has anyone seen them in person? The photos I've seen make them look just terrible. I know art is subjective, but... I dont think they're art at all. I think they're just some girders and some cloth that cost FAR too much for the city of New York... I guess tourism is picking up so that's good, but ... BLEH! :disgust:

Too lazy to go the 30 blocks to see them. Most people I talked to said they are boring.

I actually like it, though I haven't seen it in person. They've been trying to get this done for a very long time now...I remember reading about it and it's pretty cool to see it finally realized.

Yeah, it's great that these 2 people were able to realize their dream, but why does the entire NYC have to suffer because of it?

:disgust: way to miss the point...

it's pretty cool to see it realized because I think it's a great work, I'd love to be able to go see it. I highly doubt NYC is suffering.

if you don't like it, chill out, it's only two weeks.
LOL, okay. I'm not riled up or anything, and of course nobody is really suffering. I personally feel it looks ridiculous, and alot of people I know feel the same way. That's all. Calm down. 🙂

I cut across the park the other day to get to a meeting, forgot about the gates until I saw them, and I was underwhelmed. It was pretty shoddy, which surprised me; I figured if they were going to go thru all that cr*p to get the thing done, it would have been done well, but it wasn't.

my worthless opinion: it looked stupid, unsuited to the setting, a blatant attempt to ram something down the throats of the rest of the world.

I don't know anyone personally who liked it. So far everyone has said either "meh" or "yuck". Also, all the pictures I've seen are taken from a certain angle and make it look more interesting than it really is. A skilled photographer can make anything look good.

Ok, I just walked home through the park and my mind has been changed. I think this was the intention they had when designing it, everything is covered in snow, the sun is coming down...it really does look cool, especially around the Great Lawn.
