I don't buy into this kind of health science. Potatoes are horrible for you? Human experience would say otherwise. Someone else posted a link in an earlier thread to his site, and I seem to remember that article being BS.

Funny. My diet consists almost exclusively of the things on his list. I have low BP, good blood sugar, and have to drink a quart of whole milk each day to prevent my weight from dropping to around 130 pounds. As it stands now, I'm 6'0" and 141 pounds.

You're not going to be in your 20's forever. It wil catch up to you sooner or later.
Yeah, from family history it'll catch up to me when I'm in my mid 70's. Whoop-de-friggin-do.

I eat pretty much the same diet that my father and grandfather did. Father's still perfectly healthy and my grandfather died from smoking-related problems at 74.

Besides, there's no point in denying myself the good stuff right now just because it _MIGHT_ cause some minor issues in the future.

EDIT: Anyone who is active enough to keep their body burning off the calories they intake will be fine.

Mercola is a QUACK of the highest order.

This guy should be taken about as seriously as a suicide cultist.

Want testimony against him? Type +Mercola +quack in google and look at the relevant hits. It's simply amazing ANYONE listens to this fruitcake.

He is listed on nearly every quack awareness/quackwatch website out there.

Any chance we can get him to start listening to those suicide cultists? Kill two birds with one bowl of poisoned Kool-Aid...

Live for today. At least in that regard. Better to enjoy these years while I have them.

After all, there is nothing better under the sun than for man to eat, drink, and be merry. Or perhaps you disagree with Solomon? ;)

At least he's not using a certified quack as a reference or source for health information.

It's called diabetes and consuming large quantities of sugar has been associated with its early onset - especially sweeteners like HFCS.

You can't possibly be so naive that you don't realize different people metabolize food at different rates. But no, none of those things could possibly be unhealthy because you are able to eat them without gaining weight.

Movie theater popcorn should probably be on that last too. But it's so darn good.

I avoid junk food.

Some of that article is BS, though.

I'll bet your doughnuts are a lot heathier than the ones you buy.

mine are. fried bisquits have a lot less sugar. and I use peanut oil, last I heard peanut oil was good for you.

In fact, I have a pizza in the oven right now. I haven't eaten one for about a week now. As long as you don't eat junk food daily, you should be OK. You only live once and I'll be damned if I'm going to let some speculation get in the way of enjoying food. It's our source of energy and life. My grandpa still eats pizza, soda, and doughnuts and he's almost 90. :)

not being fat, and dying from medical complications due to poor diet are two different things... :p

Mention it in passing? They link to a whole page that lists the health problems it can cause and references supposedly reliable sources. I have no idea how reliable those sources are, but they sure as heck didn't just mention it in passing.

Who in their right mind eats 100 raw potatoes?

Sounds good to me.

Or you could be bitter and preachy, telling people on the internet how they should live their lives. ;)

Mercola's aspartame list is bullsh!t. The man is listed on nearly EVERY quack awareness website. His site is considered by many Drs to be the most insidious purveyor of medical misinformation on the web.

I mean, come on. You know when your BS myths are busted by snopes, it's all over.

Dr. Mercola is right. If you eat what he says you will be healthy. When you are healthy you cannot get diseases such as cancer.

Which is why I said I don't know how reliable it is... I've honestly never heard of this guy. Common sense should tell you that eating all of that junk isn't good for you though.

This has to be one of the most ignorant statements I have seen on these boards.
