Beastie Boys Licenced to Ill was my first tape (I now own it on CD)
Can't remember 1st CD - wish I could but I have nearly 200+ now so it's kind of a fuzzy memory

First 45RPM - The Four Seasons - December 1963 (Oh What A Night)
First Album - Kiss - Destroyer
First 8Track - Aerosmith - Rocks
First Cassette - AC/DC - Back In Black
First CD - Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms

First tape I bought was MC Hammer - Hammertime

First CD's I bought (together) were Green Day - Dookie, and Offspring - Smash

First Tape- Dj Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince- He's the DJ, I'm the rapper
First CD-Metallica Black album or Def Leppard Hysteria (i cant remember although i think it was metallica)

I remember my first purchase CD, though before that I have no clue. It was a CD from the Sony Essential Classics line, with, IIRC, the New York Phil in the 50s playing "The Rite of Spring" (Stravinsky, duh) and exceprts from Profokiev's "Romea and Juliet" music. It's still a great CD.

I have never bought a CD or VHS/DVD. I think that the prices they charge are ridiculous. I'd be willing to pay $5 tops for a newly released movie or album.

I don't remember which was first, but it's either Depeche Mode's Music For The Masses or The Best of OMD which were both in vinyl. The funny thing is I never owned a record player.

Checking in from the Jurassic as well and the first record I recall purchasing with my own cash was Strawberry Alarmclock Incense and Peppermint on a 45. 😱 My first 2 cassettes were Country Joe And The Fish and Buffalo Springfield.

I purchased my first music (a 7" single) in 1980. Styx - Too Much Time On My Hands. I still have it.

Heh, I think you're the first to reply who's owned a 8 Track. Cool.
