Avery Brooks succeeded in playing someone you would actually believe is a military servicemen dealing with uncertain situations. He didn't have all the answers. It's what made him so relatable. All the other captains are portrayed as being so god like they're hardly still human.

If we're not lying to ourselves, and unfortunately I see many here are, Patrick Stewart was so fkin money as Piccard that he ruined star trek for everybody else.

Its true. The episodes when Picard plays lawyer or diplomat is as good as Trek gets.

Watching orange new black now. I hated voyager but she is great in role as Red, for sure. Really a notch above all the other actors.

If we're not lying to ourselves, and unfortunately I see many here are, Patrick Stewart was so fkin money as Piccard that he ruined star trek for everybody else. If you watched early first season deep space nine you probably wanted to eat a bullet over how unbelievably terrible an actor they picked for sisko. Even by 90's standards that was just some terrible acting.

I could not get into DS9 just because of Sisko. and the fact it was like watching a daytime soap opera... Dark sets, lots of endless dialog = booorrrrriiiiinnng

the dominion war arc spanning season 3 thru the end of the series made the show amazing.

I never liked Voyager but holy crap that woman could put you to sleep in the middle of an epic battle. I'm not at all surprised they replaced her.

She could be legally declared a sedative.

the janway relationship episodes were just uncomfortable to watch.

The entire series was uncomfortable to watch... which is why I never watched more than one or two episodes. Voyager just plain sucked balls. Fuck, Enterprise was a better series than Voyager, at least it sucked me in for a few seasons.

I never watched DS9 either.

Are you kidding? I love the original series, loved TNG and I've seen all of the movies, even the JJ Abrams ones, which I enjoyed greatly BTW.

I don't own any uniforms or speak Klingon or go to any of the conventions though if that's what you're asking.

I liked voyager all right, there were some very good episodes... But there were plenty of bad episodes as well. Such as the one were Janeway and Paris turned into salamanders, just ask yourself what happened to the baby salamanders?

IMO DS9 was the second best as far as story line. ST Voyager had very good lead and character actors . The main problems for me in STV were weekly episode endings. (writing discrepancies)

I still have a soft spot for Voyager because it began airing just as I discovered Star Trek, and I followed the series religiously as it aired. But by the time it ended I was old enough to see that the writers were careless morons far too often for the show to hold up well long term against Deep Space Nine. Which it doesn't.

But still, I liked the cast a lot, aside from Roxanne Dawson for for some reason. But McNeil and Beltran seem like solid dudes. And Mulgrew put more nuts in the Chair than Stewart or Bakula.
