After using Avant and MyIE2, FireFox is ok, the people holding it up as the fastest browser ever or the coolest features must have overlooked all the other Tabbed browsers that were being offered.

Now since there are some many browsers I wish someone would start a free tabbed file manager !

PS: Yes I'm aware that Avant and MyIE2 are frontends for the IE engine.

For almost all intents and purposes, Firefox = Mozilla. It's just that Firefox is smaller and designed as only a browser, not a browser suite as Mozilla is. IIRC, Firefox uses large portions of the Mozilla browser's source code.

Firefox loads pages a bit faster than IE (not a huge deal on broadband), and it allows for more popup and privacy control.

No, he's not the only one. But it's easy to disable.

AFAIK, you can get extensions to make it work just like MyIE2

I dislike all download managers. I never download more than two things at a time and I tend to download items to different folders all the time. Plus the default settings don't automatically clean out things that are already downloaded and it doesn't close the download manager when the download finishes. It's just one extra foo-fa to worry about for me.

In the tools, options area first choose the privacy settings part for downloads and choose to clear the download manager after successful downloads. Then go to the downloads tab and set it to automatically close after downloads are complete and also choose "Ask me where to save every file". It's not just like Firebird, but it's close enough.

what's the problem? just edit the preferences.

-- get the plugin, Download Sort. You can tell it how to handle the objects your download and which folder to put it in. I have all pictures (all the picture extensions) to go to 1 folder, all EXE, ZIPs, RARs to another folder. yadda yadda yadda for music and videio files.

- go into Preferences > Privacy > Download Manager History
-- you can clear your manager by Manual, Upon Sucessful download, When Firefox Exits

i like that i can pause something or if it gets interrupted somehow i can just resume. i don't download things to the same directory all the time either. and all the download dialog boxes i've seen lately have made you click to close them after the download is done, either a radio button or a close button, so its not any different from clicking on the x in the corner.

What's missing? I could probably find just about anything you're looking for as an extension, if you let me know.

Please read the thread before posting things that I have already said. I already mentioned how to go into preferences and change those things. Thanks.

I also don't have any set folder for a given file extension, the destination is chosen on a file-by-file basis.

Go to Mozilla's plug-ins page. The self-install flash links don't work but if you go to Macromedia's site and download the installer, it will install just fine.
