Its OK. I started using it because Avants latest releases have gotten buggy. What I'd like to see in future versions of FireFox:

A) INCLUDED Plug-ins
B) Included extensions for mouse gesture customizations
C) More customization of the layout

I was directly asked by ElFenix why I preferred to disable it as much as possible (which I quoted in my post, though you conveniently edited it out). So I gave my reasons.

A) There's been a lot of talk about doing something along this line. The problem is that adding, say, java would make the download several megabytes larger. It's possible that they may offer futere versions both with and without Java, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

B) Another issue of contention. There are currently no plans of making extensions into integrated features, however the final installer builds will come with extensions that you optionally install using the installer.

C) Right-Click on the Navigation Bar, hit "Customize." You can move pretty much anything around. If you want to remove elements of the menu, click here. Between these two, you can do almost anything you want with the UI.

Edited to make sense.

I just got it and I'm trying it right now. Certainly beats the hell out of IE. Also seem quite a bit quicker than Opera which I've also used. Beings as I'm stuck on dial-up I'll take any bit of help I can get :p

I'd like to move the tabbed windows bar elsewhere.

Okay, here's my reason for disliking the Download Manager.

Here are my settings:
Clear Download Manager history when Firefox exits.
Ask me where to save every file.
Show Download Manager when download begins.
DO NOT close Download Manager when files complete.

I've run into situations where I download a file but the manager doesn't show up. Does this mean the file was never started or downloaded? I also get no notification that the download has been completed. However, that entry shows up in the Download Manager later (using the same instance of Firefox so the history hasn't been cleared) when I download another file. Of course, I can always just disable Download Manager, but then how do I know when my files are completed?

Yes, this may be nitpicking, but this is something that was never an issue with Phoenix or Firebird because Download Manager didn't exist. If I specifically choose "Save link to disk," then why does the Download Manager only show up part of the time? The lack of UI consistency in ANY program irritates me. That's all.

i downloaded the last version of firebird and now firefox. at first i wasnt really impressed and felt no need to stop using ie6. after download 3 extensions, tab scroller, all in one gestures and smooth scrolling im gonna use firefox 100%.

i erased my ie icons so i stop clicking them by habbit.

edit:

is there any way to print the list of gestures? ill use em more if i could just look at a list rather than keep checking the options too see whats avalable.

thanks JB

Opera has too much cluttery unneccesary crap, the UI is not nearly as slick as Firefox's, and I'd rather not pay for the full version.

Ok, I just figured out what I don't like about it. No spell checking extension like IeSpell. 146 extensions and not one spell checker? Wtf?

Tabbrowser Extensions will do that, but I find that this extension slows things down more than it's worth (but others swear by it, so YMMV).

It's being worked on, but isn't exactly in an easy-to-use form right now, and it's still missing inline checking. I agree with you, though, this is really the only thing I don't like about FireFox.

I don't know if it's just me, but i have been having a lot of trouble with Firefox regarding themes.
It keeps craching when i install new themes, & won't even correctly install a few of my faves.
For some reason, a couple of them also will not show the back & forward buttons either.
And it seems really slow compared to Firebird.
I'm not particularly impressed.

The problem with the themes is that they changed the coding between .7 and .8, so all your ald themes are incompatible now. You'll have to look around for an updated version or try fixing it yourself.
