Yes and your new Sig. makes for very long pages.

Well, you know. I am in OT more now than before, so I have to have an annoying sig. I am just waiting for my first mod quote! Then I can be 3r3|<7 or whatever they call it there in ATOT.

Yep, I'd say just about 1 out of every hundred OT threads is worth following these days, but then again 1 out of 100 OT threads is more that ever get started here in OS. I think it has something to do with there being exponentially more OTers than OSers, but since when was that ever news.

I always prefered quality over quantity. I have tried to get a few threads started in OS in the past, most people are not interrested in a thread unless they have a problem. Most, not all.

Yes I know, it kinda reminds me of comp.os.linux.advocacy + free technical support for 98% of OSs :D. Only without the ColaModerator......

you STFU! BIATCH! :p

Ya the doom-style game could make it interesting. It would be hard to find effective analogs to the file system componates, how would you choose?

Like what would symbolic linked files look like? How about device files or sockets?
How would you execute programs? would you have a command line you could goto?
what would equal health points. Would deamans actually be demons? Would user's program's be imps? Would network mounts be portals? How about other users, could you challenge them to impromptu games? Would the BFG 2000 be "rm -rf ./*"? It could certianatly making securing computers interesting, you could have visual ques to network connections, and the users that connect to them, what would open ports on your computer look like? How often would you have to refresh the information to make it effective? Would "su" be godmode?

Whoa, dude, an all encompassing doom-based window manager??? :D w00t!!!!!

This probably isn't such a good idea considering the fact that you would probably end up killin all of your processes and removing al writable directories.

As for "su"............ Well all I can say is if someone ever made something like this it would definitely be a good idea to include a very good disclaimer.

I think it would certainly make monitoring networks funner, plus hey if you develope the visual ques right you could amass more information much quicker, a light in the corner of a room as you run thru it would indicate a detail that you would otherwise miss...

And the best part would be the boss would be able to tell the difference between you being a attentive tech or if your hosting a impomtu LAN party on your workstation.

Just think of the possibilities.. would be the first time you'd have to worry about employees smuggling pc upgrade stuff INTO the workplace!

Just a few years ago I remember begging my manager to let me bring in more RAM (40 was not enough) but they got me another 24 so I had 64MB!

I shuddered the last time my dad brought RAM home. He scrapped a dual xeon server, sweet right? NO! It had 128MB of EDO RAM!!! I still get squemish thinking about it.
