Not officially, but lots of people are doing it anyway. Check out Upgradeware for compatibility. You can get a Slocket that allows Tualatins in a Slot 1 board for $20. I put a C1.4 in a BH6 board overclocked to 1.57 GHz. Works like a charm.

OK, the upgradeware Slot-T has been ordered. 1.1A or 1.4A... Hmm....

It seems like the best overclocker is the 1.1A according to www.overclockers.com. Just about everyone can hit 133 MHz FSB. This is not true for the 1.2A. Strangely enough, some with the 1.0A don't get too high either. (I guess these were early ones?)

So it looks like the 1.1A might be the ticket. However, I'm tempted to just buy the 1.4A and run it at 100 MHz FSB so that my Radeon LE isn't AGP bus speed doesn't have to go to 89 MHz. My memory is PC133 CAS3 I believe so that's not a problem. My mobo has a 1/4 PCI divider. I WON'T run anything besides 33 MHz by the way. Too many drive issues.

It seems I'll have to do mail order for the slocket though. US$21 plus shipping.

i guess it mostly depends if you have a bx or not. 1.1a at 1.5ghz only garranteed if you have apollo pro 133 boards like i did. i guess higher speed chips might be good for bx users that can't handle 133bus.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. The Asus P2B is an ultra stable board, but still I wonder if I should even bother with the headache of overclocked the BX chipset and the AGP bus. Celly 1.4 it is then.

I guess $20 extra won't break me, and it's only about a 10% speed loss I guess to go with the 1.4 GHz. Plus, I'd have to run my memory at CAS 3 anyway at 133 MHz anyway. (7.5 ns.)

BTW, while the website of the Upgradeware reseller in Canada isn't the greatest, I must say I'm (so far) impressed with the service. I ordered late in the evening, and I got a personal response around midnight for a question I asked.

Also, what is the height of the stock intel heatsink/fan? If under 2 inches, I'll buy some more memory. (My Alpha PEP66 blocks a slot.) Are the Intel fans loud?

The stock C1.4 fan is not too bad. It runs ~ 4000 RPM. A bit loud for my tastes, but I've heard (much) worse. It doesn't block any ram slots on a BH6. BTW, I was able to undervolt mine to 1.3 Vcore @ stock 1.4 GHz.

I just installed a 1.4ghz Cely/Upgradeware Slotket with an Asus P2B-VE, which is an OEM version with a built-in ATI video card. Ran it without a hitch.

i dunno the exact measurements of the heatsink, but it was pretty decent size. my newer 1.1a had a bigger heatsisnk then my older 1.1a, go figure. they went from 60mm fan to 70mm. dnno if its changed again now.

OK, good, it looks like I will be able to utilize that 3rd memory slot now. It wasn't the fan width I was so much worried about, but the total heatsink+fan height over the CPU.

Whereas my PEP66 is about 2.5 high over the CPU socket, Intel's specs says the retail CPU heatsink/fan is about 1.9" high.

Actually the PEP66 would be even higher, except that it's mounted sideways, with the fan perpendicular to the CPU. See here and here.

Posting from a 1.4 GHz BX Asus P2B here.

The Intel heatsink/fan ain't bad, and freed up my memory slot and then some. However, my new 16-chip memory doesn't work on the BX. Well, I only lose 10 bucks for ther restocking charge on the memory. I guess I'll have to look harder for non-high-density RAM.
