<< I find your point is moot... even if you want to "say" that its a sports car, we still are comparing it to a musclecar which NEVER had the R&D or the extreme technology incorporated into the design of your "sportscar" >>

It's called technology my friend - and if you look at it as a disadvantage (funny, you seemed to disregard that when you were calling it a riceburner) then you need to realize this is always gonna be an issue. Hell, even 10 years ago, things such as variable valve timing were unheard of - now it's a part of many new cars. Unfair advantage? No - it's the evolution of the industry... get used to it, and keep it in mind when comparing the cars

a little OT from the topic, but - simple instructions on how to spank a Classic V8 ;)

First step, buy a 4 cyl Turbo Dodge.
Second, work some turbo magic.
Third - bake @ 400 degrees for 1hr and Voila ;)

<< if Chrysler had put "twin turbo's" on their "stock" cars back then they would have turned in times under 10 secs. >>

Heh, you could say the same for honda and toyota, if they used 20 gallons of displacement, they'd get times under 10 also. But the fact is neither chrysler nor toyota/honda did.

Lets see, first, damn you chris a. for making my urge to drive a viper even stronger. Man that would be a blast on a day like this!...

Supersix, I like to think of the car as having a spontaneous errection, it fits the boing noise very nicely, it just kinda shoots right up :D

Don't make fun of the movie guy "I live my life 10 seconds at a time" too :D ROFL

Genocide ALL big block mopar's were ABOVE the 400 HP range and the figures that were used were very conservative... a hemi was said to have 425 Hp but again that figure was DELIBERATELY set low...probably more like 500, and that was bone stock

<< However, I'd love to see that Charger on a road course Its a strait line car, nothing more. Its roadhandling specs are nil and its nothing more then a cart to push you in a strait line. Its a nice car regardless, but if you want a little more than going down the 1/4, I'd highly suggest something else >>

...
very true they were never "really" developed for road courses... although mopar did "try" it's hand in that type of racing AKA "ponycar" racing...didn't fair too well though...

<< Unfortunately, the sterotype ricer seems to have extended to anything of Japanese origin (at least from kamiam). Sigh... I guess ignorance is bliss... >>

well then instead of trying to insult me, why don't you try to enlighten me w/ your " obviously Superoir" intellect??

You want to be enlightened? Go testdrive a Nissan Maxima SE. Then go test drive a Dodge Avenger. Or Chrysler 300M, either car, I don't care. Then you tell me which car has more balls, which car is more comfortable, ect...

I'm just sick of hearing "Well its a durn Toyota and its from over the seas so its a rICER"

kamiam I can not believe how ignorant you are. Typical attitude of a redneck from the heart of the south. Do you even realize that when the muscle cars were made, the octance in the gas was a LOT higher than it is now? Did you know that with good enough gas you can crank the boost in that TT Supra to walk around your little musclecar?

Wake up and smell the coffee. Anybody can say "My LS6 Chevelle will smoke your TT Supra". But you give the LS6 the same 93 octane used in the Supra and watch your Chevelle miss, sputter and choke.

And yes, I have driven them both so I do know a bit of what I'm talking about. They both have pro's and con's, but don't go walking around saying "A muscle car will always beat a ricer".

I don't mind if you want to have a "discussion" about muscle vs import, but get real and get your facts straight.

Radeon, the Avenger doesn't exist anymore ;) I think you mean the Stratus Coupe. Anyways - the Stratus is a little out of the Maxima's pricerange, and the 300M is more luxurious (doesn't really have a sporty side like the Maxima). But from what I've been hearing, the Maxima is a strong little car. I know Nissan's V6s are strong, my mom has one in her car and it's smooth :)

I would be shocked if you took an accord V6 coupe and ANY '70s muscle car, dumped both on a road course and have the accord lose.

True, I was grasping for something off the top of my head. Run the Max with a Stratus R/T. :)

Yes, they are VERY strong cars. 224hp out of a V6 is OK, however, they are easily modded and can put down a LOT of power. I was talking to a guy with a blown Maxima about a month ago - he had over 350 at the crank and was running mid to low 13s in the 1/4. Nice car too, full leather interior and the works :)

The odyssey won in all specs of testing =)

you know I thought we were talking about street racing...riceburners to musclecars...which has NOTHING to do w/ comfort ect... as for these cars I actually prefer them for everyday driving
as for not liking my calling them by that name...sorry but when someone tries to compare 4 cylinder japanese cars to american muscle cars I get just as upset as you do to my term...and again it's not intended to be derogatory to any one person just the product

yeah right...superbirds did 200mph in nascar...and before you tell me thats not a fair comparison a street roadrunner could do 160 easy...I know I've been there

Please tell me you're kidding. :)

I don't care how un-agile muscle cars are, but there is now way a stock Accord would beat a stock 70's muscle car in any circumstance. The Accord is not a very swift car..........

Slam the muscle cars all you want, but they had incredible potential and are still fast compared to today's cars.

Check out this Hemicuda: here

It's only slightly modified and looks stock, but ran a 11.57 1/4 mile. This is with no turbo, no supercharger, etc.

Also, keep in mind that the fastest 4 dr. cop car ever was 1969 Chrysler product with a 440 V8. It went 149 mph.

The old cars also had character, something the modern cars are missing.

huh, Honda squeezes out 120 hp from each one liter of displacement on the 2 liter s2k and you doubt it? If the viper had that kind of specific output, it'd put out freaking 960 hp naturally aspirated!!

I'm not looking for exceptions, I'm looking in general. And somehow, I don't think that roadrunner was stock.
