<< << A stock supra weighs around 3400lbs if I'm correct... >>

do you have figures to back that up?
>>

A Supra weighs in around 3400-3500 depending on the equipment, I can back him up on that.

<< kamiam I can not believe how ignorant you are. Typical attitude of a redneck from the heart of the south. Do you even realize that when the muscle cars were made, the octance in the gas was a LOT higher than it is now? Did you know that with good enough gas you can crank the boost in that TT Supra to walk around your little musclecar? >>

and this makes you an expert at auto racing??? do a little research into what it takes to get a car to run below 10 sec in a 1/4 mi and THEN come back to me w/your arguement...until then crawl back into your hole and STHU!!! I don't mind if you want to have a "discussion" about muscle vs import, but get real and get your facts straight...seems your the one that needs to get his facts straight

wow...ok I hate ricers as much as any american muscle car lover, I'd love to have a 67 GT500, 69 Stingray or a 66 Charger.... But seriously we are talking about a Supra here, not some stupid Civic with Type-R stickers and a bellbottom exhaust tip....

The Supra is really a pretty nice car. I'd like to see a lot less stickers than that Fast and Furious one...but still it's not a half bad car.

<< huh, Honda squeezes out 120 hp from each one liter of displacement on the 2 liter s2k and you doubt it? If the viper had that kind of specific output, it'd put out freaking 960 hp naturally aspirated >>

and they are still not as fast as an american muscle car...and your point is??

I expect this from a little BOY such as your self...when you graduate from school look me up...we can "straighten out" your insolence then, for now I think its time for your nap, your getting cranky figures this coming from someone living in Davis a place that once tried to prosecute a woman for disturbing the peace...what was she doing?? SNORING

We are talking about drag racing here. You won't ever see it because of the audience in mind, but a Maxima vs. Stratus would be completely 1 sided... Mopar would get its ass handed to it.

I just think it's a shame to tear up a Dodge Charger like that. Only the Dukes of Hazzard are allowed to wear out Detroit Muscle in such a way.

Anyone here do street racing themselves? If so, where?

One can't argue the facts, but most Americans like the low end torque of a big engine instead of high end horsepower. The lack of low end torque can make the S2000 a real chore to drive. Car & Driver even even commented on it's lack of low end oomph.

"Since the engine doesn't start making real power below 6000 rpm, it's hard to get this car out of the blocks in a hurry without frying the clutch." here

Americans like the launch more than the high-end pull afforded by European touring sedans and such.

But weaving through traffic on 635 at 130mph in an Audi S4 is absolutely awesome. 😀

Very true PG.

Hondas Vtec-I is supposed to help with low end torque... hopefully the cars it powers (RSX) will be better.

Would this be your S4? 😀 What color, I may have seen you 🙂

You mean Mitsubishi would get it's ass handed to it 😀 The engine isn't designed by Chrysler. And yes, the Nissan would win - but the extra speed comes with an added price.

<< Please tell me you're kidding >>

He's not kidding.

Try driving a 2001 Accord V6 sometime. Those cars kick butt. I test drove one and the salesman told me to floor it. I did so and that car took off. Then when I got to 80mph(in what felt like a heart beat) he told me to let off the gas and slow to 50mph and get ready to turn. "there's about a 45 degree turn ahead. Start the turn and then gun it!" he informed me.

I was very hesitant and he could see it. "Trust the car!" he told me.
Well I started the turn and slammed my foot on the gas and that car held on to the road like white on rice, in a glass of milk, on a paper plate, in a snow storm.

Any muscle car would have spun out of control with that kinda driving.

To kamiam nad everyone else bashing foriegn cars. Try driving one sometime.

If you are so pro american, try buying a car that was made in america. Honda, toyota, nissan, BMW, porche, manufacture most of their vehicles in the United States.

what is that supposed to mean? That people who like high output, high rpm engines aren't Americans? People who are afraid of revving their engines shouldn't be buying performance cars in the first place, go buy a volvo 240 or something.

I know its a Mitsu motor, but don't think Mopar doesn't have its hand in there somewhere.

I'm trying to find the Mopar equivalent to a Maxima. A Intrepid wouldn't stand a chance...

Radeon: I was shotgun... it's my roommate's ride. A 2001 black S4. Such a choice ride, I shall have one in 2003 when they reintroduce them with the new body style. 😀

And I made a mistake on the highway... heh. We were doing 130 on Central in Allen last Friday. He said he had done the same thing a couple of days earlier on 635 however. Man that car is badass.

What the hell? Dodge Spirit GT!

Looking at this thing makes me want to mod my Dodge Ram to run even with the Ford Lightning. To quote Ash, "Yeah, and I'm a Chinese jet pilot."

Hehe I've seen your page before. This is why I wish we'd get the REAL Toyota Altezza here (4Cyl Turbo)cause it would run real close with your car.

Its a shame the Spirit got such a bad name 🙁

<< Radeon, I got 2 Mopars right here that'd be stiff comp for the Maxima 😀

Yeah, Toyota's afraid to release a Turbo 4 here because they think us Americans want the bigger engines 🙁 Turbos are fun too Toyota!! 😉 I don't own either one of those cars that I linked, but I wouldn't mind having one - that's for sure!
