*THE* FaD Thread

I guess I don't understand the points, since there are those who have processed, yet have none.

Whoa now that is sweet! I just happen to have quite a large home network but currently I'm running SoB on my other boxes. Just trying it out on my laptop now. I've installed it and tried to set it to what should be the settings for best performance.

What is up with the CPU rating? Uses your CPU info to predict performance?

CPU Rating is an estimate of computing power to weight points. My P3/933 is rated at 76, while my lowly C466 is rated at 36. Can't wait to see what the 486DX33 comes in at!

Looks like my Pentium-M 1.5GHz is coming in at 131. How does that compair to other processors at 1.5GHz? Is there a site with processor comparisons?

We have to tip the Cows!!! Don't let Albert Schweitzer pass us by!!!

They completely revamped the points system some months back. It used to place you according to how many molecules processed. But they changed over to a complex points system and started from jobs processed on that date. So the approx 400 jobs I had completed prior to that were pretty much scratched for points. It is a good project but requires more time to complete jobs than some other projects.

Still a very worthy cause.

Guess I'll switch my resources to a couple dying projects. I have lifemapper and find a drug running now.
Does a highed cpu rating give you more points? My p4 3.2ghz has a 105 cpu rating. was also running sob, lifemapper and encoding video when I started the program up.

Yes, 2039 is the correct team #.

105 seems low for that cpu but with all that other stuff going on at the same time that would explain it. As far as I know cpu rating does not effect points, but is rather an indicator of performance. My 1.5 P-M has a rating of 135 and my XP 1800+ is 168.

I thought I did, but after looking at it again I haven't.

My p4 3.2ghz is still showing a cpu rating of 120 for each instance that is running while my p3 1ghz has a cpu rating of 82 😕

For each instance that it's running? You have HT enabled? Note that HT help the P4 utilize more of different parts of CPU, while two processes contending for same resources will still have to share. If you have 2 THINKs running on a single CPU, look at it this way: you rating is 240!
