GT630, RE-CERTIFIED, $29.99. 2GB 128-bit DDR3, 96CC
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133519

Since it has DVI-I and VGA that would be a good card for someone with two older VGA monitors.

EVGA GT 740 2GB GDDR5 for $71.99 After $15 rebate, free shipping:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487096

14-487-096-TS

This is rebranded GTX 650 with 2GB VRAM.

It uses the Kepler GK107 core rather than the GK208 core of the GT 730 GDDR5.

Memory bandwidth is double that of the GT 730 GDDR5 because it has a 128 bit bus rather than a 64 bit bus.

Do Keep in mind, though, this card has much higher power consumption than the GT 730 (64W vs. 38W)

P.S. Best price I had found previously was $66.99 AR, free shipping---> http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=37459030&postcount=6

Good deal. I've been video card shopping lately (gave my son a HD7770 and running a GT 240 512MB card in its place!) and can't decide on what to buy. There are $80 750Ti deals and nice deals in the $150-$250 range as of late. I guess I'll keep waiting and see how the 950 release will affect prices on other cards next week.

MSI N750TI-2GD5/OC 750 Ti 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 $79.99 After $20 Rebate and Visa Checkout Coupon Code VCO2015BTS

Maybe if the GTX 950 lowers in price enough, we will see GTX 750 (55W) and GTX 750 Ti (60W) finding a larger niche in the low profile form factor?

P.S. One thing I have noticed (and I am sure many others have too) is that any low profile card over ~ 40W carries a premium compared to the full size version. But with a greater variety/supply of low profile cards maybe this would change? I do remember the days when a low profile HD7750 GDDR5 (55W) was only $15 more than a full size HD 7750 GDDR5.

Another thing I am hoping for this hot deals thread is a better selection (from both AMD and Nvidia) in the 25W to 40W range.

And it would be great to even see Mobile GPUs (which are usually a larger die running a lower volts and clocked lower for greater performance per watt) also being used in these 25W to 40W low profile desktop cards as well.

Reason: there are so many really good and capable corporate (off lease) SFF desktops out there that could benefit from a good GPU (for OPEN CL applications as well as gaming). These also have lower powered PSUs.

Another thing to consider is Thunderbolt III, which will open the door to laptops and UCFF desktops using external dGPU (and at 25W to 40W, I figure the external dGPU could be even bus powered through a low cost usb-c cable)

NOTE: To readers of this thread, please check the most recent posts for the current deals.

In my experience shopping for value in the entry level category of graphics can sometimes be a frustrating experience.

Therefore I thought I would start this thread so we can have a place to list any hot deals we find for entry level video cards ($50 and under, after rebate) EDIT: 4/6/2015: I decided this thread should no longer have the $50 price limit. Feel free to post whatever hot deal you consider to be an entry level video card.

With that mentioned, here is the first deal:

PowerColor Go! Green AX5450 1GBK3-SH (HD5450 1GB 64 bit DDR3) for $9.99 After rebate, free shipping:

Keep in mind it is just a very basic card with only 80 stream processors, but will work nicely as a very low cost replacement for older systems that either don't have integrated graphics or have extremely weak integrated graphics.

P.S. Regarding Power Color rebates, be very careful how the form is filled out. They have some very detailed instructions that need to be followed (example: do not mistakenly use Newegg's "Order details" as the invoice) , but so far my experience with the single rebate I have filed has been good. It only took me about 5 1/2 weeks to receive my rebate and it was in the form of an actual check rather than a reward card.

So I finally ended up buying the above card and it is not a bad performer (for such a low end product):

Right now I am doing some informal testing with Team Fortress 2 using C2D e8500 with a comparison to the Athlon 5350.

P.S. Here were my test notes on Athlon 5350 and Team Fortress 2 from last year:

http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=36794469&postcount=287

I'm done with the first phase of multiplayer testing for Athlon 5350 on Team Fortress 2.

(This phase involved changing resolution with the lowest detail settings being used as a constant.)

Some basic observations:

1. The game appears to spread the load out primarily to three cpu cores. (Activity does exist on core four, but it is extremely light)

2. Some player character classes appear to stress the game more than others. For example, I seem to get the lowest frame rates while playing the Scout.

3. According to FRAPS minimum frame rates have dropped to as low as 16 on multiple logs. I have tested this on resolutions as low as 800 x 600 with lowest settings and it still happens.

4. Determining average frame rate is extremely difficult because once my player dies (and I am waiting to respawn) the frame rate shoots up much higher than what it was in game. With that mentioned, average frame rate appears to be > 30 FPS up to 1920 x 1080 (lowest settings). Some variation in average FPS appears to be dependent on map and number of players.

Overall, I will give the Athlon 5350 a pass (for casual gamers) on Team Fortress 2 up to 1920 x 1080 (lowest settings). However, the minimum frame rates reported by FRAPs can be alarmingly low. As I have mentioned, lowering resolution does not help the reported minimums. Ideally I would like to see AM1 with a higher clock on the CPU in order to help the minimum FPS.

So I am wondering once these Power Color HD5450s dry up what will become Newegg's next ultra cheap (after rebate) Go-to low profile video card?

Maybe a Power Color R5 230? Or something else?

I did have some some problems with my 7790 cards. Wake from monitor sleep mode sometimes wouldn't work, and the screen would stay black.
