My three favorite budget cases (in ATX, mATX and mITX) and two favorite entry level PSUs are all on sale simultaneously so I decided this was a great time to start the thread. Such cases and PSUs are great not only for builds using new parts, but also builds using spare/leftover parts.

    Cases:

1.) NXZT Source 210 (ATX), $29.99 AR free shipping:

$10 rebate expires 4/18/2016 and must be postmarked within 30 days of purchase.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146075

    2.) Fractal Design Core 1000 (Micro-ATX), $24.99 plus shippping:

    http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=81159

    3.) Coolermaster Elite 110 (Mini-ITX). $29.99 AR free shipping:

$10 rebate expires 4/30/2016 and must be postmarked no later than 5/30/2016

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119299&Tpk=elite 110

    PSUs:

    1.) Corsair CX430W, $19.99 AR free shipping

This case also shares the same basic chassis as the DIYPC HTPC Cube in addition to Rajintek Metis and in this review (of the Raijintek Metis), they noted better cooling performance with the 120mm fan used as a intake rather than a exhaust.

P.S. I own this case and it does look very nice in person.

Anyone have any experience with/comments about Raidmax rebates? A couple of reviews gripe about not getting them - at all, or at least not in a reasonable timeframe - but on the other hand, there are only those couple of complaints (versus some other products/companies with a whole slew of 'em.) I really don't have a need for one any time in the immediately foreseeable future, but if the rebate is reasonably reliable, I'd be tempted to grab one basically for the hell of it, for an HTPC/NAS/etc somewhere down the road...

The rebate application process was roughly the same as 4myrebate.com. So pretty easy.

And there is a website to check rebate status:

    http://rebatecenterinc.com/check_rebate_status.php

My rebate for the Raidmax Atomic ITX case (which I purchased end of April and submitted middle of May) is reported as received and currently pending. Will update this thread when I get my rebate back.

    Compact Micro-ATX case
    Two 5.25" bays
    Vertical hard drive cage (with vibration dampened mounts) capable of holding 2 x 3.5" drives, 3 x 2.5 drives, or 1 x 3.5" and 1 x 2.5" drives
120mm intake fan included, and mounting for optional 92mm rear fan and optional 120mm side fan.

Here is a review from PC perspective.

Overall, the case did well in thermal testing using a G3258 Pentium and non-blower design R7 260X (ie, video card that dumps heat inside the case) with just the included 120mm front fan.

Regarding differences between Core 1000 (listed in the opening post) and the Core 1100 (post #9), Core 1100 has an inboard positioned 120mm intake fan whereas the Core 1000 does not have the 120mm intake positioned inboard. (See pictures below) This affects drive placement on the Core 1100 to the point where it cannot mount a 3.5" HDD in the lower most position without removing the fan.

    (Core 1100)

(Core 1000, notice 120mm intake is positioned in a spot that does not interfer with the mounting of a 3.5" HDD in the lowermost position on the vertical drive cage)

I like how this one has three 3.5" bays for such an inexpensive enclosure. My only concern is the reported difficulty for installing hard drives due to how close the cage is to the RAM and the CPU HSF. Maybe an AMD build using a small mATX board would be ideal for this reason? (due to how easy AMD HSF are to remove and replace compared to Intel stock coolers)

P.S. Here are some other cases with the same internal chassis as the above model that we can also watch for:

Coolermaster N200 mATX case, $29.99 AR free shipping:

Unlike the Core 1000/Core 1100, this one does have cable routing openings and a cutout behind the motherboard. It also has 1 x 5.25", 3 x 3.5" bays and 4 x 2.5" bays. In addition, there is room for a larger video card (355mm) that unlike the Core 1000/1100 is not affected by the hard drive cage being installed or populated.

Tweaktown gave it a score of 94% and a "Must have editor's choice" award back in 2013:

    http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/5521/cooler-master-n200-chassis-review/index8.html

The Neoseeker review was less glowing and they did mention various imperfections, including lack of room behind the motherboard for cable management:

    http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Reviews/cooler_master_n200/7.html

Overall, this case appears to be a good budget choice for those wanting a mATX build with higher power components and/or more drives. However, for those wanting a more compact mATX build-up I still like the idea of the Core 1000 due to the reduced dimensions (13.98" x 6.89" x 16.54", 26.1L vs 14.90" x 7.90" x 17.50", 33.8L).

EDIT: Some Newegg reviewers (even in 2016) have mentioned this case having a sticky power button.

$15 ROSEWILL FBM-05 Dual-Fan Micro ATX Mini Tower Computer Case ($30 -$15 rebate)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147246
    Rebate expires 8/8 http://images10.newegg.com/uploadfi.../Newegg/Rosewill3MIRs_70292Aug2Aug816nm13.pdf
Mixed reviews for build quality and getting cut on edges. Why an 80 mm exhaust fan? I'd cut out the exhaust area & install a grill with a 92mm fan (has the mounting holes for a larger fan).
EDIT $15 Rosewill FBM-01- Dual-Fan Micro ATX Mini Tower Computer Case ($30 -$15 rebate), also on sale, glossy front, but no USB3.

jsalpha2, just finished a build in that Zalman Z1 and all went well. I like the case. Plenty of ventilation for my purposes, (using a blower style video card in this one). Would buy another one when it goes on sale again ($20 AR in July).

Off and on the elite 130 has been having rebates @ newegg so price has been around $27 after rebate.
    -
This is a mini-itx case that is long enough to take a full video card and full size psu. If your space is deep but not high it is a pretty nifty case. Strongly recommend a modular psu and mounting the fan (if you don't use water coolilng) before you put in the mb. I haven't messed with water cooling myself. The case also takes a full size dvd/blu ray drive (one of the few mini-itx case to do so). Cooling is not that great it has a 120mm front fan and 80mm side fan. If you don't need/want internal dvd player there are smaller cases.

I keep hoping to find a new case for my server in this thread but I need more than 2 or 3 3.5" bays. I need more like 5 or so (1.5tb, 2tb, 2x500gb in RAID 1 for "important" stuff plus 2.5" SSD boot drive). Oh well, can't win 'em all!
