Agreed but he shouldn't be bitching about it if he sold out. He made his choice and he knew what he was getting in to.

Theres a difference between bitching about it and doing something about it. He's doing something about it -- he just happened to post something on his weblog about it before doing it. From the looks of the reports floating around, I don't think he contacted a bunch of people to get all this attention.

I don't buy that at all. I've had plenty of problems with the latest Win Media player. I will only use it for video media now and that's about it. Recently it's been crashing every time I try to play Internet radio on it. I'm not completely incompetent when it comes to computers either. I recently did I fresh install of the OS with all the latest updates. (Win 2000) Maybe it's better on WinXP. I agree winamp 3 sucks, it's a larger and more bloated program but Winamp 2.91 is fantastic. Far better looking too even with default skin. Just my opinion.

I don't see any difference between between Winamp 2.x - 3. I just double click on a song/station and it plays the music. It's worked that way from day one andn it works that way today.... I mean... What the hell do you guys do with Winamp?

I'm sticking with Winamp 2.81. 2.91 and 3.0 both don't play any of my .ogg files, whereas 2.81 will. Over half of my music is in .ogg format, so unless they fix support for it in their next versions, then i won't be using them!

Plus, the only thing I can see that is different in 2.91 and 3.0 is support for video files, but I use WinDVD Platinum for my AVI and MPG files, as it has superb TV-Out features, which neither of the others can touch (such as putting the video full screen on a TV without needing to have it full screen on the monitor, as well as upmixing 2.0 to 5.1 sound, and pretty well I do say!!

Old Versions has all the old versions of Winamp, up to 2.81, so if anyone needs pre 2.91 (ie their Vorbis files aren't playing) then that's where to get them from! :)

Wow. I didn't know that Vorbis files were broken with 2.91. Any idea why? (I didn't think that it was that significant of a change) -- link perhaps?

2.91 prolly has the updated decoder for OGG. the developers told music coders to dump the garbage info in the header track of the OGG. If it had junk in it, it wouldn't play. I forgot the fix, but i read this over at hydrogenaudio forums and at foobar. You should prolly do a search and check out your OGG files. Prolly don't conform to the new OGG standards.

Aye carumba. I'll take Winamp 2.81 with my custom skin over WMP any freakin' day of the week.

Whatever, you don't know quality when you see it. You probably belong to that Microsoft hate bandwagon. Yeah great, let me enjoy my superior MS products, while you enjoy your buggy and crappy non MS products. Using Winamp really wins you a lot of respect amongst your geek friends right?

ummmmm.........i don't think that someone who's asking around for an faq on how to find a girlfriend should be calling anybody a geek.

omfg the 0wnage! its too much! :D

Confused, the latest version of Winamp does support OGG, I just tried it last week on a fresh install. However, the OGG decoder isn't included in the light distribution, only in the medium and full distros, I believe.
