i feel a lot of ppl who saw this movie and liked it should see how badly they copied it from the HK movie Infernal Affairs.

What pissed me off the most was how they copied the misspelled chinese character scene (in Departed, it was the stupid misspelling of a word on the envelope that gave away the cop's connection to the mob; so fucking lame; at least in chinese a mistake in the character makes sense since they're so damn complicated).

I don't think this kid is smart enough to figure out that The Departed was basically a remake of Infernal Affiars, not a rip off.

Americans do things better, sorry. There is a reason real Chinese food is impossible to find. 😉

I like Scorcese, but I too thought it was overrated. Maybe that is because I heard too many people suck the movie's nuts before I watched it.

I don't see how they are going to make a sequel. Everybody is dead.

The original was actually a trilogy. 2nd film was a prequel and the 3rd was about events after the 1st movie. Of course in the original the undercover mole (Matt Damon character) was not killed and essentially got away with the whole thing. I knew that they would kill his character in the remake though as to have a "happy" ending. In fact Infernal Affairs was shown with an alternate ending in certain countries that shows the bad guy getting caught.

I am not so sure that you can say that one is a "happy" ending and the other not...For example, by then end of Infernal Affairs, I was kind of rooting for the equivalent of Damon's character (I forget his name), because he clearly did not want to continue being a traitor, etc, etc. I found a similar thing happening regarding Damon's character in the Departed...I kind of felt bad for him and wanted him to live (and I thought that would be the 'happy' ending)....I did not see his death coming at all.

funny. i just saw this last night for the first time after having seen Infernal Affairs a few times.

it was pretty good but i also agree, all those headshots got ridiculous. tehre were some parts that felt sloppy but it was a good show. i think having them both fuck the same shrink was just FUCKIN DUMB!

id recommend Infernal Affairs to anyone that hasnt seen it.

IMO The Departed was the best ensemble cast since Glengarry Glen Ross. Great film. I thought some of the minor characters (esp. Martin Sheen and particularly Alec Baldwin) stole the show.

I guess "happy" isn't the best way to describe it, more like in the Departed "justice" was served as the bad guy got it in the end.
