The Departed

Scorsese is a genius. His directing is brilliant. He turns the bloodiest of scenes into dark humor. Everything that I like about his directing was seen in The Departed.

Those who like Scorsese might enjoy this short he made a while back:

He mixes dark elements with upbeat music to add a flavor to the film industry that is only seen by him. Although this wasn't as strong in The Departed as it was in some of his older movies such as, "Good Fellas," it was still an excellent film.

Where have you been all these years? Yes it kicks ass. Since you are back, also check out "No Country for Old Men".

Seconded.

Great movie, but No Country Left for Old Men requires some thinking, so it's not for everyone.

i like the spoilers warning. its ok, there is a time limit on those things.

i was probably the only one that laughed out loud at the ending. one headshot after the other. i found it hilarious. apparently no one else did.

The characters have amazing personalities. Did you know that Nicholson was the one who added the hookers with the cocaine and the strapon in the moview theatre? They guy is out there...

I think I read that Denis Leary was originally supposed to be in it too. He would have made a good contribution.

That would be a it too new for the OP

I think he should check out something more consistent with the era of movies he's currently at, like maybe The Story of the Kelly Gang

I don't see how they are going to make a sequel. Everybody is dead.

The original was actually a trilogy. 2nd film was a prequel and the 3rd was about events after the 1st movie. Of course in the original the undercover mole (Matt Damon character) was not killed and essentially got away with the whole thing. I knew that they would kill his character in the remake though as to have a "happy" ending. In fact Infernal Affairs was shown with an alternate ending in certain countries that shows the bad guy getting caught.

I bet he would have played Mark Wahlberg's character.

You are a little late, but it was a great movie. The ending (well, the elevator scene) caught me off guard. The very end was poetic.

You have spoilers in you title don't you?

i feel a lot of ppl who saw this movie and liked it should see how badly they copied it from the HK movie Infernal Affairs.

What pissed me off the most was how they copied the misspelled chinese character scene (in Departed, it was the stupid misspelling of a word on the envelope that gave away the cop's connection to the mob; so fucking lame; at least in chinese a mistake in the character makes sense since they're so damn complicated).
