The definition of irony...UPDATE WITH PICS

So I was running some more tests on my DFI Crash-party NF4 to see if I can get the damn thing to stop crashing. I tried some new settings and left it to prime both cores all day while at work. The side panel was off and everything was running full blast. Well the insulation guy comes by and blows insulation into the walls but, unbeknownst to him, he blows a hole in the wall and proceeds to blow insulation into my entire office and the computer. There is now 3 inches of insulation covering everything in my office and stuffed in the entire computer. All the fans shut down. the heatsinks are packed with insulation...and that was while priming both cores. Needless to say the entire brand new computer is toast. Pics to follow.

His insurance will pay for it, and all the clean up in your house. My guess is your whole house is dusted with that stuff, with a fair bit in the duct work.

yeah, he should pay for everything. if not, you have a really good court case

looking forward to those pics! 😉

OMGWTFBBQORLYGAYCRUISEPWNED!

It will be really sad if you can't replace the Opteron 165 you had (hint hint) and they have to replace it with an Opteron 180 as the only comparible CPU still available.

Did the computer not shut down when the cpu reached it's threshhold temp? Seems like the Ultra-D has that feature built in.

Um do amd cpus have internal throtling like the p4's do, cause if it did it should have just shut down without damage to the cpu.

yeah that's what i'm wondering about too.

it shoulda shut off by itself unless you disabled that feature in the bios.

You asked the same question I was about to ask.

Wow that's terrible. Although if you were having problems with your DFI Lanparty then it's probably a blessing in disguise, because the board was probably faulty. I've never had any problems with mine nor does anyone I know who has one; it's been one of the most stable boards I've ever owned!

Just a little finnicky regarding RAM types (OCZ is your friend) and making sure you know what you're doing with all of those RAM timings.

All I know is when filing your claim, make sure you double the price estimate of everything ruined. They will not give you replacement cost but will instead give you the depreciated value. I know first hand. I tried to be honest and I got fckued by the insurance company. I got the short end of the stick and it wasn't even my fault.

Include EVERYTHING that was ruined even ball point pens, tacks, etc.. It's the only way you can get back at these crooks....

m 🙂
