The debate over these cartoons of Muhammad is ridiculous.

hmm do you think i pushed the line a bit too much. i'll withdraw the sand-monkey comment. the cousin-marrying mobsters are factually supported (see prior pages).

really ? the religion of 1.2 billion people has been insulted HUNDREDS OF TIMES in this thread alone, in far worse ways than in the cartoons. And guess what ? they got away with it !!!!

grow up, religions are constantly "insulted" by people that don't believe in them (and sometimes by people that do). People will always get insulted by something, but free speech guarantees everyone's right to express their opinion. You recourse (in a free progressive society) is to excersize your free speech and give your counter opinion.

After reading all this mindless drivel these violence loving Islamists keep posting, I have changed my opinion about a few things, namely:

1) I hope Israel takes over the Middle East.
2) I hope the ME tries to start a war with the West and Europe.
3) I hope Islam becomes extinct as a faith.

Thanks for helping me understand the true nature of your religion .

How can you respect any religion that believes that non-believers, or infedels, should be killed. I want to order the shirt from tshirthell.com that has a picture of a guy sitting on a toilet and says, "The Koran, now in Two Ply."

I have lost all respect for the Muslim Religion. I consider a percentage of them Savage Animals. Even many of those living here in the states have a deep hatred for Christians. They shield it publically and spit on us when our back is turned. Remember, white or black christian males weren't the ones who blew up the world trade center, or bombed the marine baracks in beirut, or kidnapped hostages at the olympic games. I applaud us going to Iraq and Afghanistan and killing every armed Muslim man that moves. I am fed up and disgusted with these people. I am sick at the thought of American lives that have been lost at their hands. The day will come when they will get what is coming and all Mohammad will do is run and hide.

Hmm let me analyze your reasoning :

I hope Israel takes over the Middle East. --> I hope the ME tries to start a war with the West and Europe."

---> " I hope Islam becomes extinct as a faith.

Behold the plans of the new Hitler !!!

So you want Israel to invade all of the ME (trust me no new news there, Muslims have anticipated that long ago).

You want Europe and the entire ME to start a war against each other ? Ya and Iraq repeated right, it's a good idea untill you realise that a guy from Amesterdam for example is not going to give up a life of smoking weed and chasing hookers all day long, to go and fight others that actually have a cause to fight for ?

"I hope Islam becomes extinct as a faith."
LOL I love this one, sure whatever buddy, 1.2 bilion + and the fastest growing relegion in the world, good luck nuking planet earth for accomplishing your divine goals!

That's akin to Christians waiting for the second coming. You can keep telling yourself that it's just around the corner, but it's unlikely to happen in your lifetime.

If I said the I piss on mohammad would that be worse than saying he's a terrorist ? because if so then why don't millions of muslims protest that as well ?

am not representative of any one, am just talking about history (FACTS) and am not givin opinion in my last post...it doesnt matter anyway israel hates all arabs and EGYPT is a key to mid east..one day they will be here in war against us..with support from US and europe
You're out of your mind. If you stopped chanting "death to all jews" and "we'll run the zionists into the sea", Israel would be your best buddy. They don't hate you, they are afraid of you... because you clearly value their deaths more than your lives.
they truly hate us and thats too much obvious to someone like me who is not controlled by them, over the years and they are trying to take our land ..so many wars..they betrayed our prophet in his land..so dont convince me that u r the wise person who only see ppl supporting israel and believe that they defend them selves..i donno how do they defend while they are living in the arabs land? they only took it 57 years ago and since then wars keep coming!

Of those who say something about freedom of speech, have you ever try walking down the street and talk taboo words in front of group of people?

Of those who say something against freedom of speech, have you never violated anyone's beliefs or insulted anyone or disagreed with them?

I expect a rational answer from any of you because, when you talk about something, you should really know about it otherwise it is total crap.. personal opinion is welcome but you dont have to give comment like you are the only one who know about it..

anyway, i still believe that insulting other people is not good.. just like you curse your friend's mother.. it only incite a fight between the two.. yeah, of course you have the so-called freedom of speech but even so, you are being an ignorant when u ignore other people's feeling.. it may not be a rule, but every matured/educated/reasonable people should know about it..

The problem is the west has sat back and watched how "reasonable" you are with the Jewish people. That conflict has been going on how long? And with no end in sight too.

The Muslim reputation for being "reasonable" proceeds you and you seem to be mad at the whole world, not just the Denmark newspaper that has already apologized, even though they did nothing wrong. We call that intimidation.

I have no idea who started it. If I ventured a guess I'd say the trouble between Jews and Muslims started at the birth of Islam.

They're just pandering to their subscription base. Can't piss off them off, you go out of business.

I dont know if that was sarcasm, but Muslims read the paper too wouldnt that be part of your subscription base?

Denmark has a 4% muslim population, but I doubt whether 4% subscribed to the paper.

Not being sarcastic, I was just pointing out a fact. If they ran an offensive Jesus cartoon it could concievable cost them a lot of money. That's the way the west works.

I am proud to present to the members of Anandtech an Arabic protest song (quite good really from a musical perspecive IMO) about the Dannish cartoons. It has been published in an Arabic forum website called "Me the Muslim"

Click the play button in the first post in the thread to hear the song (it's truely very good, showing that arabs are capable of great things if they direct their energy towards positive goals):

http://www.muslm.net/vb/showthread.php?t=149957

Exceprt from translation: "Oh messenger of God, we ask your forgiveness for the blasphemy perpetrated by the people of Denmark...."

btw, let me clarify I fully support this form of peaceful protest within the law. Even though I still think it's making too much of a big deal from an insignificant cartoon, which is just like many others published all the time and insuting many different people. It's just not worth getting upset about it.

This whole thing is beyond retarded.

Why are you and so many people so ignorant? First off, you are generalizing that all Muslims are acting like uncivilized beasts which is simply not true. There are over 1 billion Muslims in the world, if we were all like that the world would have been in ruins right now.

Secondly, who do you think Allah is? You act like he is some crazy idol. Allah is the arabic word for "god". Allah is not going to unleash his wrath over this.

You call these peopl buffoons. How about the buffoons who go crazy when they see what they think is the image of the Virgin Mary on a piece of toast. Then imagine that somebody comes over and takes a sh!t all over the toast right in front of this person that thinks that this is some holy miracle. Imagine how that person would feel.

You have to understand that most Muslims are very faithful. They are not like some people who merely say they are of a certain religion and then just go to church every once in a while. These people are religious people and they take their religion seriously. And it is not a bad thing. Just think if all people in the world were religious, in their own respective religions. Think how much better a place this world would be. It is just that some people are taking it too far.

When you are the biggest newspaper, people don't need to subscribe to read those cartoon. It will probably be passed from one paper to another, from one media to another, from one country to another, use your imagination.

look at the cartoons in particular...... highly offensive to jews, americans, israelis - let's burn their embassies !

Do you even know how to read Arabic? I didnt go through the site much, but I looked at quite a few of the cartoons nd I really didnt see anything offensive at all. A few portrayals of Ariel Sharon, but in a decent manner. I cannot read Arabic, so I cant say for sure that nothing offensive is being said.

But, in any case, you have to realize that most comics are offensive to some people. But, this was just beyond that, it portrayed and ridiculed the Prophet Muhammad, the most honored and revered man in the history of Islam. He is holy to the Muslim people. I dont think I have seen many comics ridiculing Jesus, holy to the Christians, or Moses, holy to the Jews.

Of course there have been hundreds of comics that have offended Muslims. You didnt see riots after those were published. This is totally different, it is not just a simple offense.

I would like to note though that I totally condemn the violent actions of the minority of Muslims who are doing so.
