"This article is pure opinion pulled out of his ass."

Funny how people disagreeing with this article have nothing objective to say. The article is telling us what we already know and think anyway, someone just put it on paper.

<< So muslim rage is due to themselves? Riiiiiight. >>

Why not? Is not the hate of a racist do to his own failures in life? Do not the KKK and Aryan Nations blame everyone else but themselves for their own problems?

The author says:

<< Because the real answer is rooted in something very deep. It has to do with the contrast between Islam's self-perception as the most ideal and complete expression of the three great monotheistic religions ? Judaism, Christianity and Islam ? and the conditions of poverty, repression and underdevelopment in which most Muslims live today.

As a U.S. diplomat in the Middle East said to me, Israel ? not Iraq, not India ? is "a constant reminder to Muslims of their own powerlessness." How could a tiny Jewish state amass so much military and economic power if the Islamic way of life ? not Christianity or Judaism ? is God's most ideal religious path?

This makes a LOT of sense, no matter how much someone wants to deny it.

Both points are valid. If somebody pokes you in the nose over and over again, you will eventually become enraged. Everybody learded rage from things that happened to them in their lives. Rage should perhaps be seen as an adaptive strategy to release enough hormones and neurochemicals into our systems as is necessarey to activate a berserker mode with all that implies. The trouble is, most of us learn unconsciously and have no control over how we respond. So as adults when we run into the same stimuli that set us off long ago we go off again even though doing so may be totally inappropriate. To be humiliated over and over causes rage. Anybody who has listened to Palestinian's talk knows that they feel that Israelis humiliate them. It's what people do t people they don't like. It's what happened to them.

By the same token, there is nothing wrong with anybody accept that they think there is. Nobody has a right to respond with violence to being humiliated. being told that you are worthless and internalizing it leads to actions that confirm the feeling. People with exceptionally bad self esteem act those feelings out through self distruction. In the process they hate everything, the whole world, and they have nothing really to blame but that they believe what they fear and try to deny, that they are no good.

Anyway, Hope this makes some sense. falling asleep.

<< Now what in the hell do you think a terrible war would be? >>

A world war where both sides suffered massive casualties. Something on the scale of WWII where half of the european population was wiped out. In a conflict between the world and islam, Islam would lose on a scale not seen before. I do admit that the war would be tragic, in that a lot of muslims would die, and it would be terrible it that it could happen. So you are probably right in that it would be a terrible war.

<< And six months ago you want to start a damn flame war with me because I flatly state the Israelis show restraint?

WTF is up with you dude?!?!?!?

I met the devil and found he was me. Or maybe I just decided to be his advocate. ;)

<< while i'm dying for an oppurtunity to disagree with texmaster... >>

This seems to be some kind of sickness taking over this thread... it's spreading to me. Gotta go find another conservative thread so I can disagree and all will be right in the world. :D

Just kidding around, Tex :p
