I will note vote for a Republican who says he is a Democrat and who will be an ally to Mitch McConnell. No shot in hell. Absolutely none.

Got it, so you’ll get an ally to Mitch McConnell who in addition is mentally ill, a lifelong criminal, and someone abusing the powers of office to commit even more crimes. Even better, you’ll get one where the last constraint of an election is removed. In short if you do that you’ll get exactly what you deserve.

McConnell is the biggest cancer in Washington. I'm not ok with the Democrats being remade in Bloomberg's image to be an ally to him.

So you instead choose a mentally ill criminal who you see, today, weaponizing federal law enforcement to attack his political enemies and protect his other criminal friends.

How is that anything other than insane.

I would take four more years of Trump vs the Democrats being molded into a right wing conservative party any day of the week. At least then I have some hope of the Democrats going back and trying to rebuild themselves as the party of FDR in 2024 after a resounding defeat in 2020 should they go hard right with Bloomberg.

Tell me please how it's sane to want a second right wing party in a two party system. I would love to hear this.

Yes because I’m sure after four more years of Trump weaponizing the federal government for his own personal interests there’s totally going to be a free and fair election in 2024. Hint: the 2020 election isn’t going to be fair. 2024 will be much, much worse if he wins.

Okay so you believe he will not spend significant money to support the nominee if it’s not him. What dollar figure would you consider to have proved you wrong?

No, I think he wouldn't support Sanders. With Warren's campaign looking DOA he likely prefers anyone else in the field to Trump since no one but Sanders would come for his money.

I don’t want a second right wing party, policy just takes backseat to an existential threat to our democracy. It’s the same reason why a bunch of conservatives have pledged to vote for Bernie Sanders if he wins even though they hate his policies.

If Mitt Romney somehow ended up as the only person who could beat Trump I would vote for him and he’s a literal current republican.

So what dollar amount in election expenditures post nomination will equal you being wrong on that?

You're looking at this like sports, like Trump has to go at all costs. And Trump isn't the cancer, he's the symptom. McConnell is the cancer. There is no more dystopian vision for this nation that I can think of than having him and whoever succeeds him not only controlling the Republicans, but having significant influence in the Democratic party too. Trump is a useful idiot for McConnell.

No, I’m looking at this like a country with a separation of powers problem and a mentally ill, criminal chief executive exploiting them. That’s why he has to go at all costs.

McConnell is evil, but he’s hardly the source - this illness has been present far before him. He and Trump are also very similar, it’s just that McConnell is smarter and not crazy. American democracy is held together by a joint adherence to governing norms and neither Trump nor McConnell gives a single shit about them, meaning they are willing to destroy the system to serve their own ends. The difference is that the presidency is vastly, vastly more powerful than the majority leader, and Trump is both a criminal and insane.

This is probably a waste of my time though because if you’ve seen the last week out of Trump and are still thinking of voting for him in any circumstances I don’t think you’re reachable.

I'd be voting against the Democrats for doing the single worst thing they could in this election as someone who has voted straight Democrat tickets in 08, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18. It is not acceptable to me to lose my party to the right, which is precisely what nominating Bloomberg will do.

Then you reap what you sow. It’s sad you can’t see the danger staring you in the face.

My hope would be the Democrats would have to reorganize for 2022 and take the senate by actually becoming the party of policies that people want. As opposed to letting Bloomberg keep shifting that Overton window farther right. Having two right wing parties is about as sure a way to kill democracy as one could conceive.

That's what the Nader ppl said in 2000 about Gore.

That thinking allowed Bush to win FL and then the WH.

How did that turn out?
Not at all like you wish.

Honestly it’s a stupid concern as Bloomberg doesn’t have a chance in hell at winning the primary.

I'd be more worried about him choosing to run as an independent if Bernie gets the nom to "save the US from the commies", or something. Ditto with that moron Gabbard.
