This is an interesting topic as it revisits a dialogue that commenced around 45 years ago with the publication of a study by Daniel Patrick Moynihan - “The Negro Family: The Case for National Action.”

It was hugely prophetic and it accurately described the consequences of the welfare state initiatives that have continued to the present.

So many here support Democrat social welfare policies, yet remain ignorant of the ultimately destructive effects of these policies.

So many lives have been destroyed, so many futures have been abandoned.

I am on vacation and just dropped in for a few minutes, so I won't linger, but here is a link to a good article that explains the controversy and the consequences we are living with now.

The Black Family: 40 Years of Lies

I suggest that if you really want to engage in this debate, you should at least read this summary article, as the comments thus far are mostly guesses rather than any real insight.

It is not a question of who won the debate, it is clear that Moynihan and his researchers did.

The real question that needs to be asked is - as the case against them was proved out, the Democrat leadership continued to double down, just as they are doing this very day - why did they continue those destructive policies and programs?
I suppose if you consider some people getting "addicted" to welfare to be worse than most of them starving in the streets, you have a point.

The destruction of the family is a clear goal outlined in the Communist Manifesto. The family stands as perhaps the biggest impediment to the establishment of socialist "paradise"

Is it any wonder that liberals have worked to destroy the traditional family?

Her body, her choice, her responsibility.

It's so easy for a Mother to abandon her child, she cannot get an abortion. she doesn't have to carry the child to term.

In fact its even easier since the government will do nothing to prevent the mother from doing os.

And yet you have no problem with a woman running down to planned parenthood if she gets pregnant. Her body, her choice, her responsibility.

Having a child is a woman's issue. Why do you want men to be involved in a woman's issue?

You have a problem.

Liberals repeatedly say: the choice to have a child is a woman's issue.

Why do you want men involved in a woman's issue?

It's simple, it takes a man to produce a child. If you think donating his sperm is the end of the contract, something is wrong with you.

If a man doesn't want to get someone pregnant and become a father, he should protect himself. Be personally responsible with your Penis and you won't ever have to deal with baby mama drama until you're ready.

Funny, how what you said is nearly word for word the belief of those right-wing wackos if you do a few obvious word replacements.

Did I ever say all the fault was on the male? I already said before, it takes TWO so the responsibility should rest on both parties, however...in your opinion a man is free from responsibility because being pregnant and having a child is as WOMAN'S issue.

And a woman is free from responsibility as well. Let her keep it abort as she please.

It is the opinion of the Democratic party that being pregnant and having a child is a woman's issue. That is why men are supposed to shut up a worship whatever choice a woman makes.

Very well said!

I get it, its the fault of a woman for being a single parent. No blame goes to a Father that is purposefully absent from his child's life.

It's so easy for a Father to abandon his child, he cannot get Pregnant, he doesn't have to carry the child to term. He can just..well...leave and never come back. A lot of these "Fathers" go on to get other women pregnant and he will likely leave them too. It's a cycle.

It's definitely an attitude issue with Men who think its okay to run away when he gets a woman pregnant. I'm really tired of the shaming of women that goes on in these forum threads, just because you have a Penis doesn't mean you can do no wrong and just because Women are an obvious minority on ATOT doesn't mean you can blame us for all of the problems of the world.

It takes TWO people to conceive a child.

I think men and women should be equally.

Either men and women should both be required to take responsibility(which is the belief of the Republican Party btw). Or neither of them should.

None of this BS of worshiping whatever choice a woman makes and forcing men to be responsible for it.

EDIT: And why don't I see you asking the reverse question of SheHateMe. She posted the exact same thing I did, but directed at men.

The undertones of your posts really reflect a lot of man-hate.

I said what I said because you have this twisted idea in your mind that a man is NOT responsible if he gets a woman pregnant. You said it yourself. Being pregnant is a woman's responsibility.

What? You're not going to defend yourself? You've been so adamant up to this point otherwise. What happened? Does the truth hurt that much?
