1) Don't care

2) I think it was the trend in the early 80s to get it done for better hygiene, or something. Mine wasn't religiously motivated.

3) Yes

I re-circumcise myself every couple months - just part of standard grooming.

just had our son circumcised last week. We did it primarily because while the risk of issues down the road are small, they are much smaller if circumcised. Also to avoid any self-image issues and teasing.

1) I don't care

2) neither. I imagine I might have it done to my son if I ever have one, can't really say why though lol

3) I am. Not sure why, and don't really want to ask.

Unless you plan to parade him naked around town for all the years to come I can't imagine what you meant by self-image issues. As for girls, many years down the road, that go down on him, I don't think they can back out when they are already down there and having it stuck out right in front of them. Too late by then for the girls.

Reduces the probability of damage to the useful parts of DNA. Common sense right? Maybe you should stick to something a little less cognitively involved like fingerpainting or checkers.

lol you're fucking retarded. The "irrelevant DNA" is mutating as well--if it's mutating at a constant rate, how is it going to protect the "relevant DNA?"

Look, the irrelevant DNA has no discernible purpose, you might be kinda right, but there's no scientific evidence out there to confirm you're right. So lay off the smack talk and the crack pipe.m

My wife and I discussed this with our pediatrician when our son was born and he said there is no medical reason to circumcise a child in modern society so strapping our newborn to a board while a doctor hacked off part of his cock was not something we opted to have done.

I also talked with a friend of mine who is well educated and the only reason he could give me for circumcising his son was so that he would look the same as him...and so that he wouldn't be teased in school. Needless to say, those reasons weren't good enough to convince us to have the procedure done so my wife and I chose not to circumcise our son.

So, to answer your questions.

1 & 2. I'm against circumcision because there really is no medical reason to do it so why put newborn boys through the needless pain and suffering?

3. Yes, I am circumcised.

Having talked to a friend who apparently isn't, he was teased in gym class about it. He also had a couple of girls over the years who were unfamiliar balk at it.

The risk of side effects from it is extremely low. The 60 year old doctor who did it told us in all his years he'd only had less than 10 children have adverse issues with it.

3. Yes, I am circumcised.

That brings me to my next theory:

1) Risk of mutilating a penis by circumcision (this is rare)

vs

2) Risk of any development of anything adverse to the penis from being au naturel. (also rare)

And also:

A) Do people prefer circumcised penises (sexually)

or

B) Do people prefer uncircumcised penises (sexually).

Studies should be done for both of these questions, so you can make the decision to make your son more sexually appealing and safe. I'm sure the former is the first thing on your mind when having a child though, is how well he performs in bed.

People's opinions change over time so as more and more people opt not to circumcise their children it will become the norm and women will just accept that it is normal. Besides, women don't fall in love with an appendage, they fall in love with the person.

Anyone notice that all the Canucks in this thread are cut? :hmm:
I surmise that they're dirty traitorous English Canadians.

my dad is Quebecois and didn't have me circumcised because he wasn't.

I'd probably have my own kids cut, though. it's been like a major insecurity of mine since adolescence and I've thought on and off about taking the plunge to get circumcised as an adult.

my own experience is that being uncut is an asset with gay men and straight women are indifferent or turned off by it.
