1) Are you for or against or don't care

2) Why or why not

3) Are you circumcised or not?

Personally, I find the subject fairly interesting. The first thing we do to babies is to cut off skin and nerves that has been evolutionarily developed, I assume, for good reason...

It puzzles me because obviously, many people are uncircumcised and are healthy.

So, what is the real point of it? :hmm:

Theory 1) to last longer in bed?
Theory 2) for better sucking?
Theory 3) retarded religions?

You realize that 99.9% of human DNA is not actually "used" in the sense that it does not appear in our phenotypes...meaning 99.9% of human DNA does not code for proteins of any kind, but just hangs out.

How is that evolutionary advantageous?

Lol, if you're using the evolutionary thing, what's the appendix and gull bladder for?

Reduces the probability of damage to the useful parts of DNA. Common sense right? Maybe you should stick to something a little less cognitively involved like fingerpainting or checkers.

They're quite important. As well as the tonsils. Medical community was just ignorant as to their importance years back.

Why ritually mutilate your newborn? The only compelling reason is religious tradition. If you eat pork, stop whacking off your kids' turlenecks!

1.) Don't really care, but if I have to give an opinion I'm against circumcision.

2.) I'm against anything that isn't necessary. If current hygiene standards make it unnecessary, then why do it? Most people do it now simply because it's the common practice. They don't stop to analyze the necessity of it. That entire mindset is something I'd like to discourage, and bringing the circumcision issue to light is a step in that direction.

3.) I am circumcised

The real point of it is the removal of a fold of skin that, in past times, would trap moisture and dirt and was therefor prone to infections. Lasting longer in bed and ease of sucking are rationalizations we made after the fact.

As in many behaviors that are or have been good ideas to practice, circumcision made it into religion so that people would do it even when they didn't have enough sense to know why it was good for them. The problem with that is that religion usually doesn't care if you ever learn the real why of something, furthermore it's likely to give you some trumped up bogus reasoning that leads you farther away from the truth of the matter.

That is an extension of point #2 above. The best way to make any decision is with full knowledge of the benefits and consequences, not "because that's how it's done" or "because God says so".

i don't agree. tonsils aren't much of a contributor to what our immune system has to take on nowadays.

as for the OP, it's been awhile hasn't it?

In a nutsell, this thread will be:

circumcised guys saying uncircumcised guys are dirty, smegma, higher risk of infection
uncircumcised guys saying circumcised guys are mutilated, aren't as sensitive/sex sucks for them

Circumcision was invented by a pedo who got his rocks off by cutting little kids skin off. I don't know how it became so popular after that.

1) Between "don't care" and "against."
2) I don't think there's enough medical evidence in favor of circumcision to justify doing it to every newborn boy before even figuring out whether he'll actually need to or not.
3) I am.

1) Don't care

2) I read - so long ago I can't remember the source - that a hospital had statistics indicating that circumcised men had fewer "issues" down there than uncircumcised men. Don't know the sample size or any other particulars, so this may not even be a relevant argument.

3) Yes

you say that like it's a bad thing ^_^

The world revolves around the penis.

Men are obsessed with their own.
Women are obsessed with them in bed.
Gay men are obsessed with them period.
Lesbians wish they had one. :awe:

Eh, not likely. On a stick maybe, but not on their bodies.
