Patriot Blast 480GB SATA 2.5" SSD $68.xx @ Newegg right now. I think that the cheapest that the Team Group 480GB SSDs have gone, is $74.99, so this is a new low price for a non-mainstream brand 480GB SATA SSD.

This guy here did a few weeks back on a Adata NVMe drive. First time, last time.

And just recently, I noticed Ebates is a Rakuten company, and I've had an account with them for years, and they've deposited cash back into my Paypal account (which Rakuten couldn't "verify").

What was even worse, they sent me two emails asking me to review the cancelled NVMe drive, and after I got the second nag email, I left a review on how not only did they cancel my order right away, they wanted me to review an item that I wanted, but never got. Of course I received another email saying my "review" was moderated, and not approved. ;)

PNY CS900 3D TLC 2.5" SATA6G SSD for $28.99 FS, limit 5 per customer.

Figured I would "stock up", PNY is a US company, and these have a 3-year warranty. Should be good to go, though I don't recommend 120GB SSDs any more unless it's a really budget build. You can get the Toshiba 240GB TR200 OCZ SATA drives for $46 on a good sale. (Those are DRAM-less, btw.)

120GB is good for a system or test disk but yea I usually go for 240 or 2tb. One of these days 16TB will be common place.

the inland micro 240 GB drive at microcenter is on sale for $39.99, with another $5 off from the coupon at retailmenot. about the best bargain you'll find in SSDs.

To be fair, that's one person's experience. I guess we could damn all Crucial MX100's based on the OP of that thread you posted.

I prefer to see a clear track record of failures before stamping the mark of doom on a brand (I have a stack of dead Seagate HDDs that have done that for me with that brand). Inland isn't great... it's the Microcenter "house" brand - and yes, I've had spotty quality issues (flash drives that work fine on a PC, but inconsistent on my car's infotainment system, yet newer inland flash sticks work fine)

Would I trust an Inland SSD on my main system? No way... but my Mom's e-mail and web browsing PC? Why not? It's cheap.

I guess that's a reasonable perspective. I don't know if I would buy any Inland drives at this point, nor any Silicon Power ones, and I'm waiting for a Team Group SSD to die, but so far, all of mine have held up.

The lowest brand that I'll go with for SSDs at this point, is Adata or PNY.

b&h and amazon have sandisk 1tb ssd for $169.99. Not the highest end drive but at least it isn't risky like some of the other deals.

WD Blue 2TB SATA 2.5" SSD $339. Not sure if this should be posted in the "cheap" SSD thread, but this does seem like a bit of a deal. Samsung EVO 860 2TB is $399.

Edit: Oh yeah, FIVE year warranty on the WD, and it's the "3D NAND" Blue one. Very nice! (Very tempting.) But I really don't have much need for "big" SSDs myself, because I have a NAS (actually, several), that stores most of my data. I don't "hoard data" on my local machines.

If I didn't have a 15TB NAS, then I'd probably look into these 2TB WD Blue 3D NAND SSDs.

That's not a bad price I suppose for an SSD of that size. I could use one but don't feel like spending that much on it right now. I still have a 1tb regular hd holding random crap while the other 3 are ssd's. Suppose something like this could be used to replace that spinner drive. I believe it's a WD one too and has lasted me over 5 years just collecting stuff I don't feel like deleting.

Nice price; but as a refurb unit it only has a 1 year warranty and from some reviews this seems to be one of the models that has very slow mlc but a high speed cache so if you write too much too fast it will be relatively slow (I'm basing this comment off of a couple of user comments but did not dwell into the specifics of this model). Did not look up perf of reads (but there is the link Larry provided).

That's a really good price, too, on the Gigabyte 240GB SSD. Don't know much about them, but most "generic" SSDs, if made in competent factories, using reference designs, aren't too bad.
