You've been at the forefront of the "exercise" threads for a while... can you give us a before/after (current) status on your own progress ? I just started doing exercises (outside of sports) regularly and would like to know if this really will get me anywhere anytime soon.

Nothing is more annoying than seeing some fat sow in line at McDonalds or one sucking down a frappuchino at Starbucks.

Americans are disgustingly fat, it's seriously disturbing.

I usually eat somewhere from 1200-1500 calories a day.

I can tell you about me . . . . at 5'9", I weighed nearly 170 lbs in February, 03 when I decided to get serious again. It took five months to drop 30 lbs and was accomplished without dieting (I did cut out snacking and ALL junk food, however)- I do however exercise a couple of hours a day.

If my NordicTrack treadmill is reliable a 20 minute walk at 3.6 MPH on a 5% incline burns about 220 calories. :disgust:

No problem man. I started dieting around the end of May. I weighed 315 at the time, then in 3 weeks went to about 300, then for I went to europe for a month where it was really hard to keep track of my dieting, but I lost 5 pounds over that month. And in the few weeks after I returned I got myself down to ~275. But in the past 3 weeks my weight will not go down. It's been fluctuating between 272 and 278 for weeks. It's because I've been cheating too much or eating too much fat when I don't eat (My sister got a job at McDonalds, I might as well get all the free food I can) I've finally realized my mistake lately because I've been eating way too much beef, and even though it is good for muscle gain, it's too fattening. When I started dieting I was on a healthier diet of chicken and fish. But now I realized my mistake and I'm going back to my old ways.

Anyways, I wrote a huge post about dieting and exercise somewhere around here, let me try to find it. Read my post at 11:10pm 7/30/03. I tried to put as much helpful information in that post as i could, but once again I remind you I'm not expert, I'm just showing you guys what helped me.

My weight is perfect.

Problem solved.

:D

I f you wanna GAIN or LOSE weight, don't forget EXERCISE. ;)

I really hate this philosophy .... a person's weight is a direct correlation to their DIET ... while it is true that one can theoretically burn off any excess calories with exercise, too many people fail to properly assess just how many calories they are actually burning off (i.e. - well i ran a mile and feel REALY tired so let me reward myself by eating this cheesecake/candy bar/pot of pasta which has prob THREE times the amount of calories i just burned off) People should keep exercise aside and just concentrate on not taking in to many calories and keeping a balanced diet.
