The Butterfly Effect is awful.

oh man. i just watched it 5mins ago too. so dramatic that i had to pause the movie to take breaks. most of the people who watched it in the theater saw the happy ending. those who watched the DVD got a chance to see the ultra sad directors cut ending.

that final fetus scene is still echoing in my skull...along with "NOOO! i have no arms and my roomate is banging the love of my life."

I'll wait for it to hit HBO.

HBO? No, I think it is going to be playing at a local airline near you.[/quote]

Thats a hell of an expensive movie ticket.

I think Ashton Kutcher did a good job in this movie. I liked it very much and plan on getting the DVD.
Ditto.
Ashton played the role well imo. The film was also very good imo.

and read FallenHero's reply. 🙂

Just saw it last night and I thought it was OMGWTFAMAZING!!! I REALLY liked it. It made me wonder, if I could go back and change time what would I do? Would I be selfish and keep trying to get the girl or would I have as much love for her as Kutcher did and realize the only way for her to truly be happy would be to make it so she never knew I existed.

the plot reminds me of Time and Again (i think...or maybe it was Time After Time) it was an finney novel made into a movie starring christopher reeve. it talks about using hypnosis as a means of time travel. very interesting.

That move ie "Somewhere in Time" and it was filmed here in MI, on Macinac Island.

I saw the movie on PPV last night. I see some holes in the plot, but not any more than with most movies, especially in dealing with time travel and its consequences. I thought the acting was good, actually. I don't watch TV much [the 70's show = not at all] so I didn't have any expectations for Ashton Kutcher.

The acting aside, the premise is one that really makes you think about the consequences of the decisions we make and how fate might act if we really could affect what has already happened.

I grew up reading the great sci fi authors - Asimov, Niven, Clark, etc. and I always loved the stories about the paradoxes and dilemmas involved in time travel and trying to affect what has already happened.

So all the irony in the plot really overcame the less than perfect casting and screenplay and made the movie interesting to me.
