The best video card ever....

I hade a god aweful gainward gf4 4200 that failed, and the rma'd card failed, so I got my money back and got a pny on one of the black fridaydeals. But yeah, that card is so, so sweet... candy!!!

what an uber utter ripoff... that card is ONLY about bragging rights, and even then, it's only a freaking video card.

Yeah but you keep forgetting that it's Rollo we're talking about.

I just sold my gainward gf4 ti4200 to a user on this baord(actually shipped it today) hoo..llyy crap that card is an overclockers wet dream. That thing would run to hell and back, and be hot as hell! and still run a-ok! I never experienced artifacts with it. I could imagine, whoever buys that card will have at least 3-4 years of gaming with it

Errr, Ronn, I'm trying to buy this, not sell it?

It's nice you'd prefer 2 X800XT PEs, some people always like generic things more than unusual things. It's this diversity that makes life interesting.

i pretty much agree with the diversity thing, but only to things others can actually see, like cars and the such.

rare cars = impressive
rare video cards: well, there video cards

That's certainly what ebay user www-globalcomputinginc-com is counting on 😉 .

Those were infamous for the "system failed to respond" crash bug. Gainward GeForce 4 series. Everything else made by them is really good!

I'm annoyed with Gainward's nomenclature the last few generations. "Gainward CoolFX PowerPack! Ultra/2600" doesn't mean anything - they just pick a huge number to put at the end. It used to be how fast their RAM was (which was often faster than the competition), but then a couple of generations ago they started cheating and stretching the numbers.

Although some other companies have started doing dumb stuff too, like Asus, who started the V9xxx series with the GeForce 4 series, carried it through the FX cards and is full to bursting with the V9999 GeForce 6 cards. At this rate the GeForce 7's will be Asus V9999-2 or something 😉 .

Great, $700 for a card that will be slower then the next big thing in 6 months... This Golden Sample crap is just an excuse for nVidia to allow it's 3rd party manufacturers to ream the customer base.

LOL that's pretty funny, thanks for the chuckle.
In any case, if this cooling system were on an X800 card, this post would be about that. It's all about the unique self contained water cooling setup, not the card under it. (although I have to admit I wouldn't bid on a MX200 with this water cooling setup)

Thats alot of money for a card with defective components.

Still holding on to the "shun the 6800 due to it's VP", rbV5?

You could be right, we'll see very soon. (I still think you're wrong and that we'll see hardware acceleration of some sort from 6800s well before Christmas)

In any case, the video I watch on my computer will run fine on any video card, so non accelerated WMV decode means about as much to me as the price of bricks in Belgium.

Your post is the equivalent of telling me "That's a lot of money for a Corvette the GPS doesn't work on!" and I don't use GPSs. Some people buy gaming focused video cards for things other than copying dvds, believe it or not.

Anyway, they were trying to sell this card unsuccessfully before for $759 minimum bid, and if that's their reserve, I won't be paying $800 shipped for this card. I could buy the BFG noted here and a watercool setup for my whole computer for a little more than that- cool factor only goes so far when you have to work for a living. 😉

Woah, you guys are crazy to spend that much on a graphics card, when a less powerful one will run almost everything just the same for a fraction of the price.

but hey, if you gots the money to spend, why not

Something branded as the "best video card ever" should be free from defective silicon.

By Christmas for the magic driver now? In any event, there is already DXVA hardware acceleration like with most modern video cards, which of course is a far cry from what was promised. If there wasn't some serious issues with the Programmable Video Processor, it would already be working. We'll see what they come up with, I'm not expecting much.

I'd go SLI for that price range.

I would too Punisher, if you're talking "Buyitnow" price, but I won't be spending $900 on a video card anytime soon.
<envisions wife learning to use my shotguns on me while I sleep>

ATs sli review just showed me that as a 6800GT owner I'm better off with that than a 6600GT sli rig, so we'd still be talking $800-$900 for 6800GTs in sli, out of my range.
