What ever happened to the GOP that freed the slaves? We need THAT party back in power.

edit: Lincoln wouldn't stand for folks shouting the "n word" at one of his rallies.
When did someone shout the N word??

The video that claims that has been proven to be incorrect. The person shouted 'redistributer'

At least we know who the jokers are around here.

I vote for both! ;)

I would say Republicans are deep in the political wilderness and will be for some time. The Reagan years have given way and the party will be defined by the Bush presidency... it's a steep hill to climb. But I'm pretty sure they will recommit to limited government and economic freedom. They have to. Other pillars like strong national defense, traditional values and the 2nd Amendment are not in question.

Self-correct or self-destruct. This whole idea of staying quiet though is pure nonsense... think about what that means, thing about what that's saying. Pretty scary too.

The OP has a point, although I'm sure it's completely lost on the rightwing. Negativity isn't selling real well atm, as the election proved rather emphatically, so repubs do themselves no favors raving on and on in such a fashion.

Until they've engaged in the self-correction you describe, they're engaging in the alternative, self-destruction...

Start with having something positive to say about yourselves and your policies, Righties. Don't tell us about what's bad about the other guy, tell us about what's good about you...

Tell us about finding common ground on a variety of issues and moving forward- it's there, I'm sure, wrt many issues facing us. Tell us how you'll add your goodwill and expertise to solving problems- tell us we can find ways to work together. Tell us that you appreciate the fine art of compromise, and that you're ready to comport yourselves in a fashion befitting the loyal opposition...

Oh, yeh- here's a great example of just how badly repubs need new direction and fresh mouthpieces-

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/ho...nt/01125107.guest.html

There you go- it's all Obama's fault, even the stuff that happened before he had the nomination... because he's the antichrist, the devil incarnate, with supernatural powers.

Go ahead, guys, slip the bonds of reality...

I dunno, but that, that's way, way out there- you know, an elliptical polar orbit of fantasy world kind of out there...

The thought that Dems *might* reinstate the Fairness Doctrine must have him in an apoplectic fit...

IMHO, the Repubs need to get control over the Corporate interests that have run rampant over their party and gained a stranglehold over the direction the party had taken during Bush's tenure.

This small but powerful faction is and will always be the force to be reckoned with in the GOP.

Hard to bite the hand that feeds you I guess.

It sounds like the Republicans still have not accepted the results of the last two federal elections.

You would have to be an idiot to think this is "Obama's recession." Of course it isn't. What we are seeing now is the result of Bush and Paulson's delaying of a recession that should have happened under Bush's terms in office. And now it is going to be even worse. But Obama and his financial gurus aren't going to want it to happen under their watch either, so they'll try to delay it even further as well. But I don't think the market is going to allow that to happen, and what Obama and his team will do will only make it even worse.

Keep drinking the koolaid. Clinton only had a democratic congress the first two years, not alot of time, Bush had a republican congress for six years. Look at how much money bush blew in that time. Do you think obama will be any better? I doubt it very seriously. But keep drinking the koolaid, dumb fuck.

It's already On and can't be put Off. It can be fixed though and its' effects can be minimized.

Go look for the long thread on the subject.

I believe it was a dailykos blogger who out the tape through some sound software was able to determine what the person said clearly.

Those "fixes" and attempts to minimize its effects are exactly what they are doing to put it off.

Staying quiet is usually associated with agreement so I would disagree...keep criticims pointed in public and pick one's battles sure, but to say nothing would be a mistake.

Hopefully the dems screw things up so badly that comming back in 2012 will be easy.

Yeh- That's really putting "Country First", huh?

The Nation is looking right down the wrong end of the economic gunbarrel, and Righties hope those in charge screw it up.

The Fiscal Conservatives need to pipe up, the Social Conservatives need to STFU.
