Nine Days - Story of a Girl

I didn't even know the name of the band, but I knew all the words to the song.

but are they hits? ;)

it's irrelevant anyway since back then they were still at least a two-hit wonder much like several other artists mentioned in this thread.

The best BAND who were a one-hit wonder was The Verve, IMO, with Bittersweet Symphony. They were a tremendously talented band with two great albums and huge heroin problems. When Bittersweet Symphony was a huge hit, they were suddenly a big band, but were promptly sued. The orchestra riff that forms the whole song was sampled from some late 60's album of Rolling Stones orchestral adaptations, and the rights belonged to the RS's former tour manager. The Verve had to give back ALL of the profits from the song, and promptly sunk into depression and drugs and broke up. Sad story.

wow, that is a bittersweet symphony

wiki-ed that.

can't believe they lost 100% of the royalties on that song. That Allen Klein guy seems like a dick, but The Verve should have had a better lawyer. Seriously they lost 100%????

Yeah, it was a shitty deal. I actually saw them in concert in the fall of 1997 in San Francisco - it was a great show (but easily eclipsed by the Radiohead show I went to in the same timeframe, in support of OK Computer).

Actually they are back together and going on tour.. for cochella in cali and vegas from what i understand, and a very under rated band. Richard Ashcroft's solo albums are top notch.

snow had a few hits in the late 90s as well. it was weird, he just came back and had a small career after going away for like 6 years.

a-ha has plenty of good songs. It's just they are European based (Norway)- and only few songs known in the US.

Oh, how could I have forgotten that one. If you had a garage, guitar, amp, and could play 3 chords, you were a rock star. That one by the Trogs also comes to mind.

they had more than that.

Then explain why their Greatest Hits album has only 3 songs: Runaway Train, Runaway Train dance mix, and Runaway Train unplugged?
