I can see Anubis?s point. Even the song I listed by Accept is a one hit wonder in the US but when I was stationed in Germany you would hear all their stuff at the Rock Fabric:)

When Bittersweet Symphony was a huge hit, they were suddenly a big band, but were promptly sued. The orchestra riff that forms the whole song was sampled from some late 60's album of Rolling Stones orchestral adaptations, and the rights belonged to the RS's former tour manager. The Verve had to give back ALL of the profits from the song, and promptly sunk into depression and drugs and broke up. Sad story.

Wow, somebody jewed them big time...

QFS

Besides, it was their own fault for using a sample, which pretty much comprises the entire song, without permission.

Apparently so. Should have had better representation with them.

That's because the lead singer died of a cocaine overdose right after they released their second album.

Not a one-hit wonder. In fact, the first #1 hit off the album Business as Usual was "Who Can It Be Now?"
And that album hit #1 along with their 2nd album, Cargo.

edit: it looks like they've sold some 10 million albums overall.

The Wallflowers had at least 4 pretty popular songs (that one, then Heroes, 6th Avenue Heartache, and 3 Marlenas).
