Eruption probably takes the most skill

Not even close, specially considering it's mostly two handed tapping which, while flashy is not as hard as other guitar techniques.

In terms of difficulty:

Sweeping Arpeggios >>> Tapping

very true

The fact isn't how it's the most technically challenging playing technique. I've seen 14 year olds who can do similar. The point is he created something in freaking 1978 that was very different than most players. Everyone with a guitar was trying to play like Van Halen back then. Not to mention everyone with a guitar was trying to replicate it after it came out.

"The recording of "Eruption" happened spontaneously... it wasn't even supposed to be a track on the album. Eddie Valen Halen was warming up at the recording studio early one day, when producer Ted Templeman overheard the guitarist. Templeman loved what he heard, and demanded that they record the solo. Eddie quickly recorded one take of "Eruption", and they ended up putting it on the album. Says Eddie: "I didn't even play it right. There's a mistake at the top end of it. To this day, whenever I hear it I always think, "Man, I could've played it better."

I love Megadeth's solos. My personal favorite are the 11 or 12 solos that exist in Hangar 18 and Mustaine's solo in The Punishment Due.
