My favorite song is "The Promise" by When in Rome.

"You're the best" is pretty awesome too though (from the Karate Kid movie)

I'd say U2, but they were ahead of their time and didn't really sound all that '80s.

So I'll go and say:

T'ill Tuesday - Voices Carry ~Sounds even better live nowadays.
