Very nice, it's all very appropriate choice. And in my opinion, GTA: San Andreas should also be there. In addition to Football Manager 2011, should also have FIFA 11 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2011, in my opinion.

the MAN MADE THIS LIST> i'm FURIOUS. AHHHHHHHH. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. (breaks mouse off head) EHAHHHHHHHHHHH. PUSH>

if you hate the list so much, then PLEASE give up some better suggestions. I'm a complete sucker for lists and I LOVE the GOTY awards and top 100 that PCGamer does. If there were some omissions, I'd love to hear them..

😕
Uh...have you not been reading the thread at all?? Pretty much everyone has been posting either what they feel does NOT belong on the list, in what order, or what deserves to be on the list and was left off.

it'd be interesting to see if anyone else thought any other MMO's belonged on the top 100 besides wow. I saw planet side too, but that doesn't exist anymore.

Most of what I would comment on has already been said. However, I will disagree with some of the above regarding Baldur's Gate 2. I thought it was excellent and while better than BG1 in some ways, BG1 should be on the list AND higher than BG2. It had such a great story, great gameplay, and set our expectations for what a D&D game should be.

-glad to see PST so high
-glad to see CS so high
-sad to see Starcraft so low

Is Team Fortress 2 still worth playing? I got it with Orange Box (recently) and never played it because I thought it was old and that people had moved on. Has its time passed? I know multiplayer gamers are fickle and games like that really depend on a thriving, dedicated community.

Such a large list is hard to complile, so many great games will be overlooked, many mediocre will be included. I thought it was a pretty good list myself.

Still worth playing. It's last major content update was in December, and added 13 new weapons to the game. Very much alive.

Star wars galaxies would be on my list because I think it is was the most ambitious and innovative mmorpg ever. It did flame out quickly but while it lasted it was quite spectacular.

WTF is Spelunky? And Football Manager? Really?

Would have liked to see FEAR somewhere, Stalker SOC(certainly better than COP anyway), Age Of Mythology.

What about Farcry,Borderlands???!?

I like that they included Dungeon Keeper and Alpha Centauri.

yeah, spelunky, football manager, zuma, dwarf fortress, etc are all higher than some other very popular games, lol.

list sucks.

#1 - Deus Ex?????? Wow, that is some serious lol.

Doom, half-life, duke nukem forever,,,, none of the all time famous games made the top 10.

Fortress Forever, probably the best team fortress game of all time not even on the list.

Why is that a "lol" ??

Most PC gamers agree that its at the very least a top 10 game, probably a top 5. At that high up, they are mostly interchangeable anyway.

It deserves its ranking, clearly.

Can anyone point to a Top 100 list of any medium that didn't have people moaning that it was crap?

I'm quite surprised Quake 1 is nowhere on the list. I mean, we have stupid games like Audio Surf and Zuma's Revenge, but yet we leave out the game that single-handedly helped revive the FPS genre? Give me a break.

Quake 1 deserves to be very high on that list. This is what happens when you let a bunch of idiots just make a list of their favorite games, rather than a list of the BEST games.

The Quake series owns a very large part of my teenage years. Even to this day, I play a lot on Quake Live. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.

Flawed list is flawed.

Doom is a good game and helped popularize the genre on the PC side but I think it a travesty Marathon 2 is always neglected when mentioning early FPS games. When Quake came out, Marathon 2 on the PC (which did poorly) was the much better game. The reason was the amazing multiplayer modes. The Marathon series is the spiritual predecessor of the Halo series and Bungie did an amazing job on the multiplayer modes of the Marathon 2 and Marathon Infinity. Any top 100 series should acknowledge the amazing multiplayer modes from Marathon that helped diversify FPS's when playing in a multiplayer game.

Starcraft is not #89. I'd say it's in the top 25 or so games and leave it at that. I mean, best is subjective because everyone has different tastes. I don't mind games I don't really play being on that list because as I said, everyone's taste is different but some of those games ranked above Starcraft aren't arguably worse, they're laughably worse.

I swear they only include Deus Ex as #1 so people can say "Yeah, 99% of the list is screwed, but they got that one right!"

(And they are quite right to do so)

EDIT: And <3 <3 <3 for the Marathon love above. Marathon 2: Durandal is my second favorite game. Admittedly it really wasn't as innovative as some will insist, but the design is perfect. The mouse control is so much smoother than all of those Build engine games that require whatever-that-emulator-thing-is, it had a great story, solid scripting for its time, and overall is one of the oldest shooters that feels like a member of the late 90's/early 00's 3D era.
