Where are the Microprose flight sim games? They DEFINED the combat aircraft flight sim genre ffs.

Was it just me, or were no mmorpgs on the list? Yay!

Yes, it was cancelled and it was at #11.

I guess the first 'flight sim' I played was on the Amiga, Apache I think it was (helicopter sim but involved flight and combat)

Missing some of the other classic BioFrog games, such as Syndicate. Some of their choices are a bit strange, like as much as I enjoyed Half Life 2, Half Life 1 should be above it. HL1 made everyone sit up and notice, HL2 was just a pretty good shooter for its time.

Since Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance and SupCom2 are both there, they should have removed one of those and put Total Annihilation there.

Also, no Need for Speed games, or Test Drives. I dont love those, personally, but they did have a big impact.

To do a top 100 list of games for all time, I really think you need to focus on what each game brought to the table, how it was important and not so much "I really like this". I haven't read this list, so I'm wondering if PC Gamer did this. However, I'd expect BG2 to be higher, it really was the culmination of 2D RPGs.

I think people need to realize that not only old games vs new games throws things off, just the age of the people doing the lists as well. You will see that there was a panel of around 20(i think). I imagine they were told to write down all their favorite games, then basically voted on them. Only a couple people commented on the games themselves. Some people on the panel had not heard/nor played some of these games.

Then they really should have had a disclaimer... Only games made after X will get a fair shake.

Yep, I've played it as well as Freespace 1 ported to the Freespace 2 engine, with the graphical habnabs.

Never seen one look like that though. I mean, the style of the ship seems completely wrong for a Terran, Vasudan or Shivan vessel.

The unfortunate thing is, you can tell that they based a lot of reviews off of games that they personally like and play often. Sure, I like TF2, but to say it was the #4 computer game OF ALL TIME is just silly.

Asheron's Call still gets my nod as #1 game of all time. Unfortunately, few have experienced enough of it to know why.

Yep. How about Mechwarrior 2 / Mercenaries? The original Diablo? Warcraft II? Duke Nukem 3D? Garry's Mod? Amnesia: The Dark Descent? The Witcher?

Agreed but thats why we're all saying the list is shit.
Moo2 would be (probably) the very best 4X game ever made. But at least they had Sins and GalCiv2 on the list so dont be discouraged. They tried.

And TBS's were represented well enough, but mostly by historical and modern wargames. They seemed to ignore fantasy whenever it suited them.

if you hate the list so much, then PLEASE give up some better suggestions. I'm a complete sucker for lists and I LOVE the GOTY awards and top 100 that PCGamer does. If there were some omissions, I'd love to hear them.

Personally I'd put SC1 above SC2. SC1 was the innovator and gold standard.

Where is VAMPIRE BLOODLINES!? Deus Ex got #1 (which it wholeheartedly deserves)

I personally feel that even though ARMA might have been buggy/hard to run, i respect PC Gamer for giving it so much support. Its a truely PC Game. Very hardcore. Not some console port. Console games are great but there still exist experiences that can only be done on PC. Arma being one of them. I'd rather have PC Gamer supporting Arma than say Call of Duty doodoo.
