Doubtful that I can brew better than Goose Island's Bourbon County Stout.

Bourbons are *tough*. It's a very fine line of balance. Too much and they just taste like....well syrupy bourbon. Too little and it's not bourbon enough. They are very hard beers to nail.

Of course barrell aging them (at least the good ones do) is also something out the reach of most home brewers too.

I LOVE the syrupy bourbon taste though :awe:

I have to admit, and I'm sure SirStev0 could chime in and agree, that it's always amusing when these threads pop up and people talk up Yuengling's brews.

Oh great...here come the beer snobs.

Yuengling is a good inexpensive brew. I especially enjoy their Black & Tan.

Other's may not, but who cares? Doesn't mean we have to turn every beer thread into a Christians v. Muslims v. Jews v. everyone else thread.

It's beer man. BEER!

I'm not a big fan of regular Yuengling, it seems a little thin for my tastes, but I could see me liking their darker fare and I've never had a Black and Tan that I didn't like.

I usually start my drinking nights with cheaper and thinner beers and work my way toward darker stuff and usually break into my expensive stuff to cap off the night. Snob? I guess.

Nah...you're not a snob at all. I was referring to the post about Yuengling being "talked up" in beer threads.

I've got a bunch of Ola Dubh 12's and a couple 18's that are pretty good too.

Ola Dubh is some good stuff, I was always an Old Engine Oil fan and then once I found out about Ola Dubh, started drinking that from time to time.

🙄 You posted what is essentially brag thread and then started getting defensive? 😛 Besides, I said absolutely nothing negative about Yuengling. I gew up on it, that was our cheap go to beer. I still drink it from time to time when I can find it cheap. However, it is absolutely one of those beers that gets hyped way beyond its caliber. I recall going out to a nice restaurant in DC with my father, we asked what lagers on draft and the server started telling us about this exquisite lager from a quaint brewery in Pennsylvania, once he said Yuengling, we had to chuckle a bit. So I'm just saying that when ever Yuengling gets brought up in the beer threads around here, it reminds me of that story. For those of us who grew up drinking Yuengling for 10 bucks a case, it's amusing to hear it recommend as a quality beer.

I could say the same thing about Shiner Bock. I was drinking it when the brewery was still using whatever, often mismatched, bottles they could get their hands on and it was cheaper than Top Hat, Pearl, etc, etc, etc.... Heck I still keep some of it around for a change up in beers whenever the mood strikes me.

Anyway...point is people have different tastes. I'm not going to run anyone's beer choice into the ground.

Unless of course they are PBR drinking hipsters.....I hate PBR drinking hipsters.

This is really not a brag thread.

Leinie HoneyWeis

OMG, i love that stuff. I can't find it in CA 🙁

We first ran across it in Michigan. Hell I had never even heard of Leinenkugel back then, now it is everywhere. Most of the time finding decent beer in Oklahoma is like finding a virgin on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale during spring break due to our backwards Baptist inspired liquor laws.

Thanks a lot you self righteous assholes!

Yikes, never had it.. gonna have to track some down.

And I'm no beer snob, I'll drink just about any. Putting some XX - Amber down right now 🙂

You say that like it is a disgusting beer.
I love the Lager, and wouldn't hesitate to say I enjoy Amber - though less so than the Lager Especial.

I just recently found it in Minnesota, loved it. I found their standard brew in Bev Mo, but they had never heard of the Honey Weiss 🙁

Really? Yuengling is pretty common in Northern VA/DC Metro area. At most of my local bars it's associated with Miller/Bud, and cost $1 a pint during happy hour. This actually makes me really happy because the cost/benefit ratio is pretty good 😀

Now what your beer fridge really needs is some Dogfish Head... But I suppose I've been spoiled rotten by living near one of their alehouses & it being readily available at my local grocery stores 😛

That's a rare sighting around here.....
