Hey, I'm thankful for their help, at least they are sending troops to help Bin Slaben ....

Altough I do have to LOL at the kangaroo paratroopers comment 🙂

<< Their Elite forces have a fiercesome reputation. >>

Actually, the Aussie Special Services team is regarded as one of the best (if not THE best) in the world...

<< Would have liked some parliamentry debate on it first though. >>

Why? You are living up to your end of Anzus.
If Australia were attacked... by say Indonesia... the increasingly hostile, and chronically instable, nation of 180 million people (also containing its fair share of Islamic extremists terrorists groups) and just a hop skip and jump from us.... would you want the US to sit around and debate or react swiftly to help defend Australia?

God bless America

Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!
Oi! Oi! Oi!

😀

Yup. The Aussie SAS are just as good as thier British SAS cousins if not BETTER.

My vote for special forces has to go to either the Spetsnaz (russia) or the Israeli Special forces...both sets are ruthless bastards!!!

Time in this war isn't a critical factor at the moment. Governments often make silly decisions during war. Why were we in WWI or the Vietnam War? And why was there conscription? We always have stuck up for, and will always stick up for our allies. Sometimes it hasn't been for the right reasons. We weren't under any imminent danger then. Now we are, it is even more important to make the correct, democratic decisions.

Anyway, I support this deployment, and I wish they return safely.

If Australia cares about it's national interests, then there is NO decision.
Alienating, or even mildly pissing off*, Oz's largest ally would be disastrous policy IMHO.

Besides Aussie public opinion heavily favours military support, BOTH major parties favour military support.... just doesnt seem to be much of a need for a debate. 🙂

But, thats just this Yank living in your beautiful country's opinion. I may be biased... ehehe 😀

*I am in no way saying Oz should bow to the US on everything... I am simply saying in THIS case... being one of the MOST SERIOUS and GRAVE times in American history...

I know that, you don't seem to be reading what I'm writing. We need to make the correct decisions. Good, well-grounded decisions can only be made through discussion. Of course Australia needs to help out in wiping out terrorism, but sending some of our military raises issues. Minor, those issues may be, but we still need to talk about them.

Making fun of an ally when they offer help in a time like this is a pathetic childish gesture.

I for one am extremely grateful.

When I think of the Aussies, and will DELIBERATELY not think of them as being a people who pledge to have your back, and when that time comes, instead of leaping to your assistance, they want to have a parliamentary chat about the matter. Fruity France I would expect this from, not the Aussies.
