It's more like what I'm wearing and the fact that despite dire predictions of utter physical ruin, eating complex carbs early in the day as part of a sensible diet has not slowed my progress in getting fit and trim:)

So, you are saying that the people at your work who are doing the Atkins plan to lose weight don't understand that Atkins isn't THE ONLY WAY of becoming/staying fit and have predicted "utter physical ruin" if you follow any other plan?

Or are you being just a bit overdramatic here? :p

In one of Atkins' books ("Atkins for Life") he gives lists of suggested menus at different carb levels. One of the breakfast items is oatmeal (complex carb).

I personally eat 1/2 cup of oatmeal with 1/2 cup soy milk and 1 kiwi plus 1/2 cup of plain whole-fat yogurt for breakfast. I'm at my desired weight though so I'm not suggesting that my diet is best for everyone. Plus, I do 30 minutes of cardio everyday.

Anyway, you may want to point your adversaries to this book.

What's the deal with you and your colleagues? Is this kind of catty behavior a woman thing?

She probably works with a bunch of Lard Asses who think they know everything about weight loss because they spent their whole lives trying to lose weight.

You can be thin yet have high body fat (and a poor lipid panel, etc.).

Here are some guidelines for BF:

American College of Sports Medicine Body Composition Guidelines

So very, very true. I've seen plenty of females who are bone-thin, yet have no muscle tone...and so their skin just sort of hangs there. Not a very pleasant image. Trust me, most guys like women with at least a LITTLE meat on them.

The Atkin's Diet will get you thin, but not healthy.

You'll start to lose a lot of energy.

Odd... I actually have more energy... And no more energy swings. (i.e. I no longer get tired in the afternoon after lunch.)

my body fat is getting lower by the week and I'm in the gym at least 4 times(usually 5 times) per week
and I exercise hard! My diet is also very clean.I have an eagle eyed boyfriend who notices everything

I got down from about 23% to about 15% in about 6 weeks. Going to 12% took a lot longer.

Don't expect to see big changes every week, otherwise you might be disappointed.
