Do any of you have a lot of experience with post-patch prot Paladins? I was shocked by just how much has changed. The new judgement system took me by surprise so I honestly fail completely at reading all of the patch notes.

Spec: I used a cookie cutter spec for the most part.

Gear: I was holy so all of my really good gear is for that spec. I have an assortment of blues/low end epics that I'm wearing for prot but some pieces from holy I decided to keep because I did not have a good prot replacement. Namely T5 shoulders and some legs from Kara. I do have a Suneater and I'm debating on whether the mongoose investment is worth it at this point since I may be replacing the weapon in 2 weeks anyway.

Strategy: I am basically testing him out in the sunwell dailies since I will be doing the same thing once the xpac hits... questing. What is your general strategy when soloing dailies in order to be the most efficient? There is a good chance I will have a boomkin running along with me but I would be interested in hearing your favorite solo strategies.

Here is what I was doing last night and I'm sure I butchered it (I'm at work and can't access the sites I need to access for specifics)...

*I run with Righteous Fury, Blessing of X (damaging blessing cant remember the name), Ret aura:

1) Open with Avenger's Shield
2) Pop Holy Shield
3) (Optional) Consecrate if I have multiple mobs
4) Hit "whatever that new attack is called that hits multiple targets" (I'm 99% sure it was added in the last year...)
5) My seals/judgements were based on what hp/mana I was at. There was another seal, Vengeance I believe, that I was using when pulling single mobs.
6) Sometimes finish with HoW

Anyway, I think the toughest adjustment will be finding a place for 2 more judgements on my hot bar. I guess for PvE soloing I mainly need to worry about light/wis but perhaps not. Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated guys.

The new changes to prot pallies are pretty interesting. We no longer need SP from gear anymore since we get it from strength. I tank with Seal of Vengeance and judge wisdom, my tanking rotation goes like this.

1) pull with avenger's shield
2) lay down a consecrate
3) use hammer of the righteous
3) pop holy shield
4) if I have multiple mobs I will alt tab and get a holy vengeance dot on the mobs until either consecrate is up again or hammer of the righteous

hmmm, so I leveled up my Druid to 70, but now I am not sure what to do with it, LOL...I was going to use it for a healer in 3v3, or 5v5....but i do not know what to expect at 80....will druids be good pvp healers still?

I am so used to DPS on my mage, rogue, warlock...first time on a healing class.

2) doesn't really make much sense that they would throw them at us now considering the whole point was to let us save for level 80 or so... and they would make it cost more because we were saving up. What happened to that?

2) most people that PVP a lot purchased both of them and are honor capped allready again

hmm thinking of transfering from alextrakza (whatever its called) with the free charector transfer. the guild im in sucks. far to much drama and nobody is willing to help. though they git pissed off and cause drama if you don't help them. but there are some people i enjoy talking to in it.

but wouldnt mind moving and starting fresh. just not sure what server to do. hehe think tommorow is the last day for the free transfer also

yeah i kept hearing people say this but after experiencing it myself i don't see how they didn't. i know we're buffed with the 51-point talent trees but it's such a huge difference from before it couldn't be just that.

You're getting that because of the talent changes across the board. Trust me.. I've been doing pretty much every raid instance (SSC/TK/Hyjal/BT/Kara/SWP) since patch.. Hyjal is the only one where the Trash HP/Boss HP hasn't changed and the Boss Physical Damage is the same.

Just wanted to stop in to say that I LOVE the new warrior prot. I can beat pretty much any other class 1v1 when I'm wearing my grinding/dailies gear, which is S3/4 PvP gear and a Dragonstrike. This past weekend while riding around doing quests for the Loremaster achievements, no less than 5 different ret pallies rode up to me who thought they were hot shit looking for another gank. None of them won, heh.

you arnt the only person who has run them, however the 51 point talents really IMO cant be the only thing thats making it the joke that it is now, i mean shit we had 7 people die on Archi last night ( yeah bads and alts) and still killed him

Ugh, I spent most the weekend trick or treating (in WoW of course). I did it on seven characters and was way too lazy to do it on the last two (that are on the same account at that). I probably should've brought my rogue along with my druid, but oh well... my druid was missing a couple FPs (Stonetalon, Desolace, etc) that made it take a lot longer than it should have.

Still trying to get that Arcanite Ripper too! I'll have to push to do two Karazhans tonight or at least get to do that boss twice. I don't care much about Kara gear on my Shaman as he only has blues in a few slots (and does some good DPS), but if I can get on a semi-full run on my (arms) warrior, that'd be nice! Actually did Kara again for the first time in awhile on my priest last night. It wasn't so bad now that I'm a CoH priest and have a lot more longevity mana-wise than I used to. I think it also helped that the tank was decently geared in comparison to some tanks that I've had to heal. I pretty much sat there on the prince fight doing nothing the entire time . I'm using the Flash Heal glyph and I actually used FH a lot more than I used GH... which is mostly because of how the damage wasn't very spikey.

Heh, my brother tells me how he beats on people in PVP gear only using T4 gear on his prot warrior. He doesn't kill them all and I don't know if he's missing spell reflects or anything pivotal like that, but to be potent against people in PVP gear is a crazy change for tanks that were only useful in AV or WSG for flag carrying .

Transferring is always a big decision. You may want to think about finding a different guild on your current server. But hey, at least it'd be free for you .

My druid's 67.5 right now... you know, in the ol' Home Stretch, and being a Boomkin isn't so bad. I actually did Headless Horseman as a 67 and I think I only missed once or twice ? Druids are pretty decent healers in PVP at 80 from what I've seen, but that's not a lot. I'd imagine that as much as Death Knights can counter their HoTs, you'll find that priests, shamans and paladins will serve as counters to their diseases (mostly Blood Plague, since that has a 25% chance to remove a HoT on tick). Death Knights can only get a 30% chance to avoid removal of diseases .

I realize there's the chance that I'm been beating down awful pallies in 1v1 skirmishes. But I haven't lost yet since I turned prot. There's so many tools to negate their damage. Between your big health pool, high armor, shield wall (which you must use), last stand, disarm, thunderclap... and then all your stuns (which awesomely do high damage on their own) like concussion blow and shockwave. You also have a fear, and your berserker rage wipes their repent. Perhaps the most important key is if you throw in a timely spell reflect and connect with their wrath, there's no way to lose.

I don't see my realm as useful - my former guild was the only one ever in current-Tier raid zones, and it's dead. Granted, the new player base looks a bit different from a year ago, but I'm used to thinking of it as a poor realm with 1 good guild. Are you sure they didn't nerf Hyjal? Last night after 3 wipes on Archi in the first 30 seconds, the raider leader called the raid. Me and a few others decided we could 10-man it, so we reformed the raid and did it. We killed Archi with 12 people, with 2 minutes left on the enrage timer.
