It was fun while it lasted.

what zone were you in?

and ive never understood why someone would go out of their way to ruin someone elses game expirence

Just the ganker mindset... someone with a small pee-pee that can't compete in meatspace decides it's fun to ruin someone elses game experience. Mind you I play on a PvP server (Tich) but still never got the point of ganking someone who can't fight back... what''s the thrill in that?

World PvP in WoW is pretty much pointless ganking a majority of the time. The rare exception being the small skirmishes on the Isle that turn into large battles as more and more people bored with dailies jump into a fray that starts with one player killing another... At least everyone on the Isle is level 70 so it's a relatively fair fight.

15-minute sandwich break, they'll be tired of waiting for you and move on. I don't know why these scum exist, but I see it now too, but haven't always.. it's completely random and not the norm. I still like pvp servers better.

It makes no sense why a level ?? would waste their playtime one or two-shotting some lowbie... and only about once per 3-5 minutes. What really is the fun in that? It's not like he has a grudge against you particularly either. They are worthless pieces of horse dung.

Stop playing on a PvP server really. It isn't a problem with just WoW, but any mmo that allows for open killing will experience it. Granted this design from game designers is going away for this very reason. Roll on a PvE server and everything is fixed. If you ever feel like being ganked, just /pvp to remind yourself why youre on a pve server.

Also right now is going to be the WORST time on pvp servers while leveling. Everybody is bored with whats left in the game. With wotlk releasing in less than a month now, people tend to be traveling more in the old areas with nothing to do. Increases your chance of seeing somebody that will want to increase their epeen size by ganking you.

KT, just walk away...it's typically a perfect time to go to the bathroom, eat, etc while the ganker decides he is wasting his time.

I was on last night, where were you?! i would have come stomped em for ya.

The one ganking experience that really cracked me up was getting nailed right off the boat in Booty Bay. I play on one of the lowest pop servers, and Booty Bay is an absolute ghost town. This guy was sitting there for who knows how long waiting for a lowbie to come off the boat. I must have made his day. I felt sorry for him, really.

There's no way I'd ever play on a PvP server if my friend wasn't already established there. People on PvP servers love to act like world PvP doesn't exist on PvE servers, but it does. Like I said before, the only thing that seperates the two types of servers is ganking.

This is the absolute best advice. If I get corpse camped I'll get up, go have a beer, chat with the wife, clean up the kitchen, etc. There's some small satisfaction in knowing the idiot on the other side is getting all excited thinking I'm still at my keyboard fuming and cussing.

Haven't seen any world PVP on a PVE server... people only flick on their /pvp if it's to their advantage, so it's a negative there just like level ?? gankers exist on PVP servers.

And don't forget longer BG queue times. 1hr for an AV like on whatever battlegroup Elune (PVE) is on? No thanks. I leveled a 64 war and a 70 druid there (because of friends) just to realize it was a huge waste of time (because I don't raid there). Can't even BG.

If you're on a PVE server, it is as dull as it gets. What are you doing besides waiting/farming for the next raid? May as well play a single player linear game that just lets you beat the computer at something. Rather have the opposite happen from time to time, but you still get to gear up for both. The other day with my rogue I took on 3 mid-60s horde in a group and won (EDIT>> found the screenie)... then they had 2 70s from their guild show up to protect them... I waited for one to fly away and attacked the 70 lock and lost (no element of surprise for a rogue ftl), but g'damn it was fun. Then you have the times where if you don't keep yourself maxed on health, you're gonna have some dude drop in on you and wave hello/goodbye. I'm telling you, these challenges add another element to the game that you will absolutely not experience on PVE.

Exactly, good time to do those neglected dishes, haha. Take out the dog...good for the eyes to focus on something else.

Final TBC patch released earlier today (3.0.2), about 1.2 gb, and looks to be more than an hour in downloading (my guess is 1:15ish).

my downloader said 4 hours when i fired it up this morning :/

either way i dont plan on playing on patch day anyway, too much shit to fix, borken addons and all that junk

the total patch is around 3GB i think if you turn your background DLer off like most smart people do

smart people? I run FIOS and on a new quad core machine and don't feel any system resource pinch. I purposely turned it on to DL while playing. 😉 Or you can just use netlimiter. All set to patch when servers are back up... I played on PTR so I know what addons will and will not work.

I had it downloaded about a week ago....enable that pre-download option.

make sure it's not uploading...it's technically a torrent.

You can download all of the predownload stuff via HTTP if you go to wowwiki... they have links for all of it on their patch mirror's section.

Ok, I've calmed down now. I'm just not used to this sort of thing where you can do nothing to defend yourself. It's extremely annjoying because I only have a very limited amount of time to play, so when crap like that happens it puts a serious damper on things.

I'll try to take the advice here and walk away for a while the next time it happens.

IDK im not at home to check and i rarley if ever use the biss downloader, i only ran it today because im at work for 9 hours and it wont matter

580k up LOL fme mine wont even DL that fast

Neither will mine, lol.

I saw the Blizz downloader start a few times over the past week or two, and I have it set to DL after I've exited the game, but I have no idea if it downloaded anything. Whenever I'd close the game I'd forget about it and walk away from my PC. So.. I'm hoping it already downloaded the 3.0 stuff.

Yeah...that's what I do...let that ganker waste their time waiting for you to rez. Also...it's a good idea to avoid those zones notorious for ganking such as Stranglethorn Vale and Hillsbrad Foothills or just avoid going there at peak hours. It really sucks when you spend more time corpse running than questing.
