I already stated it above:

This game, at least for MP (have yet to play SP), absolutely demands more than a C2D, regardless of chip-specific capabilities and clock speed.
C2Q I've heard can run this game well, but it seems the more-capable AMD Tri-core and Intel i5/i7 chips are generally the suggested ones if trying for max settings alongside a fairly-recent high-end GPU.

The rig in my sig plays it perfectly with everything turned up, DX11, and 4xAA. I only get slow-down with 8xAA. You either need a VERY highly overclocked C2D or a fairly high clocked C2Q. Only time I ever get noticeable slow-down is when I've been shot at with multiple rockets or something and a ton of dust is thrown up all over the screen.

If people are having problems running this game at decent fps, they need to go in the INI file and change the default DirectX level to 9 which would help a lot.

what kinda glitches? i haven't seen any, but then again i've been playing vietnam nonstop, haven't touched vanilla bc2 in awhile since i unlocked everything

Well, just played a couple great rounds with Gully, and not one slowdown...so who knows. This was in Vietnam. It was a blast.

Oh, BC2 won one award in Gamespot's Best of 2010: Best Sound Design. Well deserved, but I think it should have won maybe a few more. http://www.gamespot.com/best-of-2010/special-achievement/index.html?page=11. Starcraft won a lot of PC awards...including competitive multiplayer. And Red Dead Redemption was practically a sweep on the console. Say what you will about Gamespot...a lot of people read it.

funny since red dead was almost unplayable for months on console for MP and everyone bitched about it :D

sorry I missed you guys, I got some awesome games in today, 5 ace pins in a row, but with no friends there, it kinda sucks

DICE been providing the latest patch as a downloadable file for some time now, since so many people have issues. Here is the latest: BFBC2_PC_Client_R10_602574_Patch
Each patch is cumulative, so you only need the latest.

Stupid question... is patch automatically installed on the steam version? I just bought this for PC on the first Steam Holiday sale and I've been getting quite a few white screen errors (i'm running a gtx 460) which require me to task till BC2 and restart the game.

Thanks; like I said it was a stupid question. Already been through the initial troubleshooting routine... just had my fingers crossed :( I've read threads with people who have the same problem. Nothing I've found has fixed it for me yet...

We haven't had anyone on this forum with the white screen problem, but I see it comes up in a google search. Looks like it's been around since BC2 launch back in March. More on nVidia, from a very small sample on the 'net. Best bet is to run a driver cleaner to wipe your drivers, reinstall the latest, and make sure you're not running any overclocking. Also, what's the rest of your system look like? This sounds like a graphics driver crash, since the audio is still working. But potentially PSU-related, that's why I ask for the rest of the system.

Actually, I get the white screen crash every now and then, but it never happens if I reboot before gaming. I don't know why it works, but rebooting sure is easier than than trying to fix the problem. :awe:

Now that you mention it, I had a white screen crashing issue when I switched from a CRT to a 120Hz LCD. I would get it mostly when alt-tabbing out of BFBC2 to the desktop. I would get a message about the display drivers (don't remember the exact file name) crashing.

I haven't seen it in a while.

Having an 8800GT (old) video card, I rarely update my drivers. But I did have to recently after getting a trojan embedded in my DWM.exe manager. That is probably what eliminated it.

Ok, well I take back what I said:

One thing that is pretty clear is that just about everyone who plays BC2 has experienced some bugs. That's too bad, and it definitely led people to abandon the game, but when it's on, man is it on. And for those who bought it for $6.80 on Steam, you will definitely get your money's worth.

I've had very few problems with crashing and low performance with BC2, but then the lowest end system I've ever played the game on was a Q9450 @ 3.2GHz, 8GB DDR2, and a Radeon 5850 @ 900MHz.

I've got the latest drivers. They are the only ones which have been installed. I just did a fresh Win7 64bit install. (updated rig was an xmas present to me :D)

Rig:
Gigabyte p55-ud3
i7-860 @ 3.5
Intel G2 120gb
EVGA Superclocked GTX460 @ 860 core and 2010 memory
8GB Muskin 1333 DDR3 @
Antec 550watt modular PSU

I run both the SMP & GPU folding@home clients at all times when not playing games which have all cores and GPU running 100%. I have had no issues since my last OC update.

I originally thought it was an OC or PSU problem but after reading others have had similar issues, I'm not as convinced but PSU is still in the back of my head. I may try to go back to stock and see if I have the same issues after the holiday F@H race is over. Any input is greatly appreciated!

So how many people still play vanilla BC2? I originally bought the 360 version b/c none of my buddies are PC gamers. They have now moved onto other games so I bought the PC version during the sale and am selling my 360 copy.

One thing that has frustrated me is the lack of teamwork I've found so far in most of my games which is one thing I miss from previously playing with my friends. If anyone has any servers that typically have a more "mature" crowd, I'd appreciate any suggestions. My EA gamertag (not sure if this is the right nomenclature for it) is Kill3rCupcak3 if anyone would like to play together. I typically play Rush.

So... I don't understand this:

lately, everytime I play my weapon classes are forgotten. Meaning, all my "pre-sets" for each class is reset to default. WTH?
In the heat of the battle, I cannot recall how many times I've ended up loading up a class with default loadout, and promptly just get too pissed and annoyed to do much in the battle.
And then I have to once again choose each part of my preferred class loadout, taking away precious killing time. Kind of... scratch that, extremely annoying.
Each time I load up the game lately, all my favorites are forgotten. So either I re-do all the classes in one go, or do them on the run whenever I decide to pick up that class... usually the latter since I don't always want to play every class each time I load up the game, and I am betting on the game forgetting my favorites the next time I load the game up.

What gives?

They made two different changes related to load-outs in the last patch:

Support for SpecAct kits
Support for Vietnam Kits

In doing so, they added new bugs. (even if you don't take advantage of either of them)

Look for Battle of Hastings to be unlocked on the PC tomorrow! (currently ~66 Mil/69mil)

Hey guys, does anyone know if you can switch to 3rd person view (not in a vehicle)? I have volunteered to be my friend's platinum 500th knife kill in a bizarre ritualistic sacrifice. We'd very much like to record it on FRAPS in third person, though.

OK, so my computer crashes within 5 seconds of launching the game on steam. I did a little research and it seems people recommend disabling onboard audio, but that does nothing for me.

Any suggestions?

For those who have experienced some pausing or hitching either at the beginning or during a match, try switching servers and see if it makes a difference. After several games where I experienced 1 or 2 pauses in each round, I switched servers, and sure enough, I didn't have another hitch for the rest of the night. This makes me question whether it's a driver issue. YMMV.
