bc2 vietnam has nothing to do with previous PC BF games. if you haven't noticed already, BC franchise is more console oriented. 1942, vietnam, bf2, 2142, yes, rest of them no.

it has everything to do w/ the previous bf games - where do you think they got the idea? - same biz model in case you haven't noticed, and the stats say otherwise about bfbc2 being a console franchise -

http://bfbcs.com/

Global PC Statistics:
Players at bfbcs: 2,079,801
Players online: 13,030
Servers: 6,139

Global XBOX360 Statistics:
Players at bfbcs: 2,365,395
Players online: ?
Servers: ?

Global PS3 Statistics:
Players at bfbcs: 1,913,883
Players online: 2,646
Servers: 681

seeing as how console gamers don't play games near as long as pc, i would hardly call bfbc2 a console orientated game. the idiot developers may try to cater to them but the core of fps gaming community is going to be pc, unless you have stats that prove otherwise...

Hell i'm glad revive doesn't work 100%.... Stop those damn medic trains ... woo woooooooo

I hate those guys that revive you in pointless situations often several times. Basically they destroy your Kill/death ratio.

Beside that I play medic quite often and yes I had trouble too with reviving especially on hills. Never seems to work. I like medic + shotgun, don't really like their machine guns. Not very good in close-up battles and for long range M16 is way better IMHO.

Going to have to disagree here. The g36 is awesome! Built in red dot means you can spec something else. It's also pretty damn accurate and good for long distance, it is sort of mediocre in close quarters but still acceptable.

I'm with you Demo, MG36 is my go-to Medic gun. Eventually it will surpass my M60 stats, which were gained in it's heyday.

Not saying it's bad just little boring/cheap. I'm just more the suicidal type player. Just run in there and see what happens. The worst that happens is you die but your teammates can profit if all eyes are on you. Of course shotguns are ideal for that + knife :)
1. shot 1, 1 down
2. shot 2, 2 down
3. knife, 3 down
4. shot 3, 4 down

love it. :D
(probaly thats why i like arica harbor so much, doesn't work on other Maps where shotguns kind of suck)

I've the same style of play actually. Which is why my kit is now assault class with 40mm shotgun + f2k. Run in, pop a 40mm round (might get 2 with it if your lucky), use the f2k to finish off anyone else, use mp-443 if that goes to pot too. :p

Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam is now available in the US EA Store for pre-order. I know it was available for some time in other international EA Store outlets, but it is now available in the US Store.

The EA Store is advertising that an order from them gets the game 3 days earlier than any other outlet.

Got mine. :)

Vietnam, the EA Store, and Steam

OK, I'm just looking for a definitive answer to a few of questions. I've seen half-answers that don't address the specific questions, by Zhinto and others, and would love a straight answer

Actual replies by EA/DICE employees or links to OFFICIAL answers would be nice. Telling me what your personal opinion is only wastes my time and yours.

1. If you bought BC2 through Steam, will the EA Store Vietnam pre-order work with Steam? i.e. I have the Steam version of BC2. If I pre-order Vietnam from the EA Store, will it work seamlessly, or is it going to be a huge hassle to get them to work together?

2. Will Steam be offering the same Vietnam pre-order that the EA Store is offering, with "early" access to the game...or is the early access only going to exist through the EA Store?

3. If you bought BC2 through the EA Store, will Vietnam purchased through Steam work with the EA Store version?

Thanks for official answers or official links that answer the questions above.

1. Yes, it is going to work

2. That is very much up to Steam and by the looks of it today, it's not likely. the pre-order deal is therefore only through the EA Store.

3. Yes

Gully - did it give you a release date when you ordered? I don't see one listed, which is a bit odd for a pre-order.

Nope, no date given, even in the confirmation e-mail.

Previously, the EA Store had posted the date December 21st/December 18 for early access, on at least one of it's international store fronts.

New Battlefield Blog post: Multiplayer Update 3 for Bad Company 2 -- PS3 tonight, other formats to follow

Multiplayer Update 3 for Bad Company 2 -- PS3 tonight, other formats to follow
BY: zh1nt0
POSTED : Nov 23, 2010

As the title suggests, there is an update for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 coming for the PS3 platform, and it contains multiple changes to the game. This update is also in preparation for our upcoming VIP Map Pack 7 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam, which explains the size of it.

We are working hard on getting these fixes out for both PC and Xbox 360 as well, so in the coming days, look for updates on those platforms as well.

Sometime tomorrow the update will be deployed and will be downloadable for everyone starting up their PS3. PS3 players might encounter some temporary outages or suffer from lag during the server updates (between GMT 00:01 2010-11-24 and GMT 00:01 2010-11-25).

Here is a complete list of all the fixes in this update:
- Acog and Red dot scope now equippable on MK-14 and G3.
- Fixed a bug on PC where the G3 would do less damage than intended.
- Reduced VADS push back and damage to balance it with the ZU23.
- Fixed a bug where Vehicle Countermeasures would fail to remove tracer darts at high speed.
- Reduced the reload time for Vehicle Countermeasures.
- Slightly increased the AT4's damage vs armor to emphasize its anti vehicle role while keeping it balanced vs armor.
- Increased the AT4’s top speed and acceleration so users spend less time exposed when firing.
- Increased the AT4's splash damage so it competes with other AT weapons vs infantry. The AT4 still has the least splash damage of all AT weapons.
- Reduced the splash damage of the Carl Gustav to bring it in line with other explosive weapons. The Carl Gustav still has the most splash damage of all AT weapons.
- Increased the 1 shot kill range of the M95 body shot to counter its lower rate of fire.
- Fixed a bug with the SVU that gave it better close range damage than other semi auto weapons.
- Reduced all weapon damage to the MCOM by 50%.
- Fixed a C4 vs MCOM exploit on Atacama Desert.
- Fixed a bug with FOV when aiming the M1911.
- Lowered the close range damage of the AN94 to highlight its long range role.
- Increased the accuracy of the F2000 on the move to highlight its role as a mobile AR.
- Increased the close range damage of the shotguns to give them a greater advantage vs slugs.
- Slightly lowered the damage of the M60 to balance its accuracy advantage vs other LMGs.
- Slightly lowered the damage of the MG3 at close range to balance it with other high rate of fire weapons.
- Slightly increased the damage of the UH6

If you have any questions regarding the patch, feel free to contact me on my Twitter.

Peace!

(most of the patch notes are already on the PC, except the first one. Look (hope) for a list of bug fixes in the PC update)

Hit the play button in the bottom.

Apparently this is a link to the r10 pc client of bc2: http://static.cdn.ea.com/dice/u/f/bfbc2/Static/BFBC2_PC_Client_R10_602574_Patch.exe

It is 2.43 Gb in size. So far there is nothing official about it and posts on the EA UK forum with this are being deleted.

Supposedly it includes the Vietnam content, hence the large size.

No mention of bullet tracers. :(

But, thanks for all the info Gully. I can't wait for the new maps!

That's probably because this is actually a summary of the update that REMOVED bullet tracers. As Gully noted, PC players already have almost all of these changes. I doubt they'll be fixing that problem any time soon.

After the patch, is there even a point to the M60? It does the same damage per shot as the PKM, has a 100rpm lower rate of fire, the same accuracy and higher recoil. The only advantage it has is 0.5s to reload time. On top of that the M60's iron sights are terrible so it becomes a much bigger decision on getting Medkit+ or red dot.

I understand nerfing a weapon, but no point in making it useless.
