Unfortunately my mobo is PCI 1.0a, so a GPU upgrade means a mobo and CPU upgrade (currently a 775).

Do you mean PCI-E 1.0? Most PCI-E 2.0 cards are backwards compatible.

PCIe 2.0 motherboard slots are fully backward compatible with PCIe v1.x cards. PCIe 2.0 cards are also generally backward compatible with PCIe 1.x motherboards, using the available bandwidth of PCI Express 1.1. Overall, graphic cards or motherboards designed for v 2.0 will be able to work with the other being v 1.1 or v 1.0.

Finally got it all going! Singleplayer is fun, although I didnt stay in it too long. I went in the ATOT server, and it seems to be working fine for me! Weren't really enough people in yet so hard to get lots of points.

Are any of the recon rifles going to end up making the body shot a 1-shot kill? I'm 90% they won't, but I'd like to know if there's a reason to ever switch from the M24 :awe:

That reminds me, can I see my ping in the 'tab' menu in game? The text for me is all jumbled for some reason. I know the first row is k/d, and last is points. What is the middle?

Probably level 15 in the class they play. I'm level 5 assault but barely a private, that's about an hour of play. Some people were getting 2 or 3 thousand points per round

What do you mean Level 5 Assault? I don't recall seeing any ranks within classes during the beta, only overall ranks (Private, etc.). I don't even see a place for that on the stats page (thanks for the links GullyFoyle!). Or do you mean, "I've unlocked the first 5 unlocks in Assault"?

First 5 unlocks, but when i played last night i noticed that when people kill you it shows what their level with that class is as opposed to their overall. Same guy killed me a few times in 1 map, at first he was a level 8 (an 8 popped up on his name) when he was recon. second time he was assault and a 3 popped up next to his name on death cam. Thats what i was referrig too.

3rd edit: the 870mcs sucks. 3 body shots at maybe 10yd range and it only did 50 damage. i think the damage chart is off.

Hence the crazy-lucky hacker-seeming one-shot kills that snipers sometimes get when snapping off point-blank unscoped shots when coming around a corner of a building face-to-face with a bad guy. I was kinda pissed that that happened to me a couple times, until I saw that table, and it made sense. Then I pulled one off quite accidentally and said, "aha, THAT's what that table meant".

Man, veteran status is funky:
@ veteran.battlefield.com = 2 (three games highlighted)
in-game during beta = 3 (black text in the white square next to my name in the scoreboard)
@ battlefieldbadcompany2.com/soldier = 1 (two games highlighted, ignoring my registered soldier in BF Heroes)

I know all I'm supposed to need to have the teamwork items unlocked right away is Veteran-1, so I'm not all that worried about it. It's just weird and the figure-out-the-problem part of my brain wants to wrap itself around it!

EDIT: Huh. And the description under BC2 when you click on it is the one that mentions the M1 rifle, rather than 1943 (which I think was the rumor before?). The only other specific game to mention a specific unlock is Bad Company 1, the F2000 assault rifle.

Battlefield: Bad Company™ 2 is the eighth game in the Battlefield franchise and the second game in the Bad Company series, released in 2010.

Bad Company™ 2 offers veterans the M1 rifle.

Bad Company is the first game to feature a Veteran reward: the F2000, which unlocks for veterans with a rank of 1 or higher.

Reading those again though, I think they're talking about BF Veterans getting the F2000 in BC1, and the M1 in BC2, rather than getting the F2000 in BC2 by being a BC1 veteran.

QFT. There will be nights I'm sure that I'll play without any buddies in squad & on Teamspeak, but the night-and-day difference between lone-wolfing it in silence & with a buddy on TS during the beta will probably make me play something else on most nights when my buddies aren't around.

Speaking of which, for those already in-game, is in-game VOIP working?

I tried talking to Jschmuck2 while I was in a squad with him but don't think he could hear me. No one responded to me in other servers either.

Is it just me or is it really buggy??? Not being able to connect to EA servers at certain times and things not showing up right like vehicle health and menu items.

Apparently, everyone is having crashing issues so it's not just us. The good news is that the server, when it's up, seems to fill up fairly fast. That's a good sign.
