i still hope they change their mind and add prone to PC version.

just because BF2 players abused prone with dolphin diving and insta prone killing, they're too afraid to put it back in. i don't buy the "it will slow down the game" excuse.

I don't think the difference between prone and crouch is enough to warrant all the bitching people are doing. The only reason I even like crouching is to gain accuracy when scoped. Sure, prone makes you a smaller target, but I don't think it's much of a difference TBH.

Meh, I don't mind it being gone. There are more important things DICE needs to focus on like, "will it work?"

prone is fairly annoying, I'm just as glad they got rid of it.

You would think it would be pretty easy to program, just make it not work at all while jumping, but I would rather have it be gone than be rigged like dolphin diving was. Crouch only is fine with me, worked just fine for the CS series and I don't think I'll really miss it at all. The only place I can see it making a big difference is for snipers since they can't lay down in the bush anymore to hide or anything like that.

GameStop is at it again!

Reserve Battlefield Bad Company 2 and receive access to the PC multiplayer beta. Beta begins January 28th, 2010 and ends February 25, 2010. Available for online customers only while supplies last. Not available for in-store or in-store pickup orders.

Online Customers: A beta activation code and download instructions will be emailed beginning January 26th, 2010.

GameStop leaked the date for the PS3 beta, DICE said "don't believe anything you hear until you hear it from us". A few days later, they confirmed GameStop's original leaked info.

GameStop did hand out a lot of PS3 beta keys, but other sources did as well (FilePlanet, Best Buy, etc.). I expect this to be the case again.

One thing I think is BS is them using the beta to pimp their download service. I pre-ordered from them for in-store pickup (I want a disc in my hands). I may change my vendor if they stick with this. Amazon has a low price guarantee...

i'm thinking about preordering with gamestop, getting the beta key in january and then canceling my order before it ships in march. you think it'll work?

yeah, i'd like to play battlefield and not counterstrike...

when is the next real battlefield game coming out? or have they totally abandoned that?

I can't figure out how to order the digital download version on their site. I put the game in my cart, but digital download is not a shipping option.

If I try to go through the Downloads link, it doesn't show pre-order stuff.

Looking through some of the fine print, it says you can't use GS gift cards on downloads because it is handled through a third party. I'd say this might be an iffy option...

Seems like there is a news ticker item running in the console versions of Battlefield Bad Company 1, and Battlefield 1943 games:

Fittingly, the word PC is the last... 🙄

It raises the question: Is the PC Beta, rumoured to be starting on January 28th also, actually the Demo? And there is no beta?

In other news:

Twitter User: Will there be enough PC Beta keys? Demize99: Oh yes, there will be lots 😀

That would be pretty lame, EA/DICE have dropped the ball in the past when it comes to betas, I hope they don't with this game because it looks really cool from the stuff I've seen.

I find it really strange that they only have a beta on the ps3 so far since the 360 version will almost certainly sell more than the ps3 version.

Why would they make the beta start right when school is starting to pick up for their audience?

pretty poor planning ahead. If its a demo, that'd be cool.

It seems like most beta's are just demo's nowadays anyway. I was in the BF2142 "beta" and there were still major bugs in the beta the day before the game was released (titans were disappearing still). They didn't bother to try out any fixes on the beta before releasing the full game, it still came out as scheduled. Just an example of how some companies are willing to place their schedule above their product quality, and I hope it doesn't happen with this game.
