Interesting Tweets:

L_Twin: "Lot's of Q's regarding the possibility of 4 pack BFBC2 bundle on Steam. We're working on this, hope we can realize this options asap."

hyphy911: "If you preorder Battlefield via Steam...The beta will auto appear in your games list when available. So chillout"

Here is a French web site giving away PC Beta keys, in a drawing: www.bf-news.fr

I hope so!

Since it's already available for pre-order on steam, I'm doubting they'll do a 4 pack, especially since they're giving away the beta with a preorder (I guess that's incentive enough).

Then again though, the version currently being sold on Steam is the "Limited Edition". The regular one hasn't gone up yet...(but maybe it would be bad to get the regular one since the limited edition seems to come with stuff that affects the main game, like weapons and upgrades)

So, here's to hoping anyways! :D

So who here is a 'beta tester'? When does it start? I applied for the beta test and actually got accepted...but I just got an email to 'log in' to the website for combat testing...nothing as far as a key or a link to get started...

I'm wondering weather to get excited or not!
I really like bf2, a lot. This game seems to have changed a few things. I didn't like MW really, despite the amazing graphics, sound etc. being superior to bf2, a 5 year old game.
I haven't tried the BC for console. it sounds al
ost like they are trying to make a hybrid of bf2 and mw.
Anyone have any insight on that?

Last week DICE had a two day session with the European Gaming Press. The NDA from that session was set to expire today, so I expect quite a few news articles about BFBC2 today.

Blog updates:

An official Battlefield Blog post about Squad Rush, with an HD Video link (same video, better quality): blogs.battlefield.ea.com

Squad Rush is not exclusive to GameStop pre-orders, in the PC version, just on the consoles.

Squad Rush Summary
Gamemode: Squad Rush puts a squad of four players versus another squad of four players for a max of eight player matches in this intense one crate/two base infantry only version of the Rush gamemode.

How To Access "Squad Rush" at Launch
North America: All customers that pre-order from GameStop (local retail store or website) on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will have an Exclusive Access* for 30 days to play the "Squad Rush" gamemode and any friends they bring with them. This means you can always play with your friends if you have the Exclusive Access* never forcing you to split from them, plus those that have this Exclusive Access* are a bit more popular... even if only for 30 days. ;-)

Rest of The World: No Exclusive Access, but we will make it available at launch and you can also invite any of your American buddies to play as well.

* No Exclusive Access on PC, however we'll make the gamemode available at launch instead.

The previous blog listing locations offering PC Beta keys for pre-orders was updated: blogs.battlefield.ea.com

==================================================

EA Twitter: "Who wants #BFBC2 PC beta keys? ... @EA will also be giving them away on Wednesday to celebrate the start of the beta"

Pandemic Studios Twitter: "Also you might just have a chance to get your hands on a few #BFBC2 BETA codes on the 28th here at the Pandemic Twitter feed. "

Watch some of the videos of the PS3 beta in the OP, then watch this thread in the next week as the PC beta starts...if you decide to join in, Steam should have you on the battlefield in a jiffy...

I'm gonna pre-order it from Steam in about a second or two. Game looks fucking great.

EDIT: Just pre-ordered. I figured it would let you download the content (well, 99% of it) until the demo is released tomorrow, but it just says "Unreleased"; guess I'll have to wait? Meh, got over 9000 other games to play I guess, lol.

First off, if you check this thread multiple times per day, I recommend re-checking out yesterday's news post, it was updated many times throughout the day, and may include items you didn't see because they were added after you first read it. If I added a new post every time I found another notable item this thread would be 10 times longer than it already is! Message #157

On to today's news!

@Demize99: "More #BFBC2 PC blogs are in the works. Stick with us folks, answers are coming: FOV, Admin tools, etc. What else?"
Demize99: @MaydaX You'll get more details on the FOV in a future blog post. It's not user adjustable but sports diff aspect ratios.

mund0x: @Demize99 do spotted enemies still show on the HUD like they did in the PS3 BETA, or is like BF2 now (radar only)?
Demize99: @mund0x They are still shown in the HUD, but they aren't as bright and the duration has been shortened. Keep em in your sights to keep spot.

I don't know what some peoples fascination is with this, but it's undeniable...
halninekay: @Demize99 Can you see your own feet?
Demize99: @halninekay You can see other people's feet!

SonyDomy: @Demize99 Can you tell me if there will be the common rose in BFBC2 (PC) like in BF2/2142?
Demize99: Sure @SonyDomy The CommoRose has been redesigned to be quicker and context sensitive. Spotting, orders, and requests are done directly via Q

@Demize99: "@manurangi On consoles we are 30fps, on PC it's however fast your PC can push them out. :)"

Bamtoman: @L_Twin Will there be a friendly narrator when you first play Bc2 similar to the Bf2's narrator
L_Twin: @Bamtoman no, afraid not.

In this Gamespot UK video interview with Patrick Bach, starting at about 2:43, they mention seeing the PC version of BFBC2, and spend several WHOLE MINUTES talking about the PC version! Not a lot of new info, but alot of assurances from Patrick that they are putting a lot of special effort in to the PC version. And, it won't be delayed!

some of their decisions puzzle me. for example, 99% of people didn't want a killcam, yet they decide killcam has to be in the game because this game has to compete against MW2. also, most people want appropriately adjusted FOV for widescreen resolutions and they make it sound like it's a cheat. sometimes, they have the obvious answers for certain decisions from the community yet they continue to act like IW. this whole "have to be like MW2 in order to defeat it" attitude is stupid. a lot of us don't want BF to borrow all these things from MW2.

I remember the first gaming rig I got with the Nvidia 7600gt and an Athlon single core. I was so psyched to be able to pump up the BF2 settings see the grass 'sway' for the first time. That was cutting edge a few years ago! :)

Actually it sounds like they're doing wide-screen FOV right in this game. They said they just expand the horizontal FOV in wide-screen, the incorrect way is to cut off the vertical FOV and leave the horizontal the same. Having a wide-screen monitor will give you a wider FOV in this game, which is how it should be I think.
