First off, if you check this thread multiple times per day, I recommend re-checking out yesterday's news post, it was updated many times throughout the day, and may include items you didn't see because they were added after you first read it. If I added a new post every time I found another notable item this thread would be 10 times longer than it already is! Message #187.

Wow. BFBC2 Demo now available on Xbox live, before the PC beta. It figures...

XBox Marketplace

Here's one of the first hi-res videos of PC gameplay on Youtube. To do it right, click the HD button, pause it, and let it load before watching it.

The guy details his hardware used for making the video: "I have an HD4850 and a Q6600, both stock. At 1600x900 resolution and while not recording, I get an average of around 60 FPS on medium and 20 FPS on high".

I'm seeing PC Beta key giveaways coming in on twitter right and left. I'm not going to be able to keep up with it all day today. So, here's a link you can use to monitor twitter using Google:

DICE Raises the Bar for Online Warfare With Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Console Demo And PC Beta

January 28, 2010 9:00 AM ET

DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio ERTS, today announced that first-person shooter fans will get early access to the best-in-class online war experience in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Players can now download a free* console demo worldwide on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. A PC beta is also now available to players that pre-order** the game at participating retailers in North America, Europe and Asia, and through select community channels. On February 4th, the demo will be accessible on the PlayStation®Network in Europe and on February 11th in North America. Defined by its increasingly intense vehicular warfare, destruction, variety of weapons and huge sandbox environments, Battlefield Bad Company 2 promises to be one of the finest online FPS games of 2010.

"After the success of the PS3 beta, we’re excited to provide gamers -- especially our long-supporting, rabidly passionate PC fans -- with another opportunity to get into the game before release," says Patrick Bach, Senior Producer on Battlefield: Bad Company 2. "Our fans have been a huge part of the franchise’s success and we can’t wait for everyone to experience the amazing gameplay and unforgettable Battlefield moments in Battlefield:Bad Company 2."

The Battlefield: Bad Company 2 console demo and PC beta will feature Port Valdez, a new vehicle focused map where up to 24 players (32 on PC) will compete against each other as either the US or Russian armies in the game’s Rush multiplayer mode. Players will have access to five land and three air vehicles where the Russian side can use everything in their arsenal including Main Battle Tanks as well as the fast-moving Quad Bikes and Mobile Armored AA. The fight will also be packed with plenty of infantry combat fought alongside the waterline towards a great oil industrial landscape in the Alaskan mountains.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be in stores on March 2, 2010 in North America and March 4, 2010 in Europe for the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the PC. The Limited Edition can be pre-ordered now on all platforms at no extra cost, with participating retailers worldwide (while supplies last).

For more information on DICE, please visit www.dice.se. For more information on the Battlefield franchise please visit: www.battlefield.com. Or follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/OfficialBFBC2.

* Internet connection and Xbox LIVE Gold membership required. Demo will end on February 25, 2010.

** Available at participating retailers in North America, Europe and Asia. Offer and codes expires February 25, 2010.

I got my beta key from gamestop yesterday. In the email it says that it was supposed to be available for download at 6am PST, which would be 8am for me. It wasn't up this morning though before I went to work, so hopefully it's still going to start today.

On the bright side if the PC beta gets delayed I guess I can try the demo on my 360 or ps3...lol. I'd rather not though, I can't stand shooters on consoles still even though I've played quite a few of them.

How are you getting your key for the beta? I signed up for the Combattesting.com site and was accepted, filled out all the info it requested...however at the moment I cannot connect to the site, it is getting hammered...

If anyone else signed up with the CT site, did they simply email you the key? I can't check my personal email from work at the moment.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,
Lee

just wait until site is not overloaded

you sure, you think I would have better luck then?

I kid...

I figured I would ask here because this past week when I have tried to get on that site it is fuggin slow as hell or times out...

I got an email earlier in the week saying to make sure to have my crap filled out, and that I would receive an email with an update...

Just curious if they were sending out keys via email or if there is some special place to get them...granted I have not searched high and low but I haven't see anything that says where they will be coming from.

I am definitely confused about the Steam thing:

1. Why no file pre-load?
2. Where do we get the key from/ do we need it with Steam?

If I pre-ordered this in a gamestop store will I still get a beta key?

Pretty sure you only got a beta key for online orders through gamestop, if you actually went to the store I think you're out of luck.

That being said the site for the beta on EA's site is down due to technical difficulties, it's probably getting hammered by people.

They said the beta will just show up in your "My Games" list when it's available. I've seen 3 different times for when this is supposed to be available. In their blog it says 12pm for PST, 6pm for CST and something else for EST. In the email I got from gamestop it said 6am PST. People on here are saying 9am PST, but I'm not sure where they got that number.

Ah ok, I kept thinking CET was CST, that was getting me pretty confused. The gamestop dl site is up now for anyone who cares.
