You can chuck C4 packs just like you could in BF2 before they nerfed it. Once you get the jump/throw timing right, you can sometimes toss the packs as high as the attics of the two-storey houses.

Word of warning guys, STAY AWAY from any server associated with *OMC* which stands for Old Man Clan, the server is OMC Old Man Clan Rush Chicago

Uber and utterly lame, power tripping, clan stacking admins. Tonight playing rush on this server I noticed on the screen a warning flash, "Balance team warning 1/3, even teams or be forced to switch"

So I looked at the board, saw the other team was short 3 men, teams were 11 on 8. So I switched teams figuring I'd even things given that it was a fairly evenly matched game. So then about 5 minutes later the server admin starts to threaten me about being a team switcher/stacker. And that I shouldn't have switched teams because OMC members get first choice on switching teams. He rambled something about banning me, and then force switched me back to my original team, and force switched a clan member to the other team.

I said I was just trying to be fair, he told me if I kept back talking he'd ban me and that I should read the server rules. Of which that little team switch clause isn't in there, cuz I checked. I told him he didn't have to ban me I'd just never come back, and warn my friends to never come back. So I quit. Just a heads up. Please don't devote any playing time to this server.

They've never come across as elitist either, particularly when considering my friends and I have crushed their group in more than one game. We raped one of their teams in TWL match for BC2 and have even done the same in Left 4 Dead.

But I suppose it only takes one bad apple. At any rate your experience makes me to want to purposefully seek them out to give them a curb stomping rather than to avoid them but I think I avoid their server because they run it smaller than I prefer.

Yeah, that was strange. The BC2 experience has a lot to do with the server you're on. Lucky we can always "just say no" to a server we don't like.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 players losing all weapons and stats

Update: It's now being said that stats and weapons are returning for players. If you lost your weapons and stats earlier in the day, they should be back now upon starting the game up.

Original: If there is one thing you don't want to lose in a game like Call of Duty or Battlefield, it's your weapons and hard-earned collection of statistics. Unfortunately, that seems to have happened to Battlefield: Bad Company 2 players. It's being reported that players of the game are finding they have no weapons, stats, or awards in the game anymore.

A huge thread has appeared on the EA forums over this topic and it appears to be quite widespread. At this time, EA hasn't issued a formal announcement on the problem, so the severity of it isn't known nor is it known if it'll be a simple fix if it was performed by a glitch in the system. Hopefully EA will have an answer come tomorrow and bring peace to everyone affected.

A new Battlefield: Bad Company 2 server build (R21) has been rolling out since last Friday. This update does not apply to clients. If you own a server, contact your server provider to see if your server has been updated.

Since Friday evening, servers are gradually being upgraded to R21.

It was developed in response to some RSPs reporting that players would spam in the text chat, and that would cause stuttering for other players.

* There is a spam filter for text-chat: if someone sends 5 messages in 10 seconds, that player is muted for 60 seconds
* Text chat can be muted across the entire server
* Individual players can be promoted to “admin” (cannot be muted, spam filter does not apply) and “muted” (never allowed to text chat)
* All settings configurable via remote admin interface
* New textfile on-disk: textchatmoderationlist.txt [list of which players are admin & muted]
* Updated docs; available here

Sigh, I do hate when in the middle of a good map and either EA goes down or you lose connectivity.

Epicness of the day: Sometimes in maps you get it where both a tank and apc are right behind each other. Well me not having 4 c4 packets, only 3 decided I'd just scatter them on the ground. turns out this works well! Got a rather impressive amount of points from destroying 2 vehicles at once and the people inside them. So theres a lesson for you, sticking them on the ground works just as well!

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!

Would you like to play against some DICE players?

I would like for everyone to take out their calendars, notebooks or anything you write your most important appointments on, because on September the 8th, you will get the chance to get yourself an in-game [DICE]-tag .

That's right! We will be playing together with the Community, spread out on different servers and just having a good time. Last time we had this event was such a success and we feel we want to repeat this.

We will release our special [DICE]-Roster the closer we get to the event

This event will be on PC on the 8th of September from 18:00 CET - 22:00 CET. Servers will be announced 2 hours before actual session begins.

There will be more events like this for other platforms as well so keep checking the blog for future updates.

This weeks Questions and Answers

The weapon balancing in this game shows some guns are very overpowered. Is there any truth to that?

There are a small number of weapons that are debated as being over or under powered. Kill stats that are available on our website show that these weapons are still used by a minority of players, and the weapons considered by the community to be most balanced are also the most used weapons. Balance is an ongoing process and we will continue to tune and tweak the game to make sure players are getting an optimal experience.


How come you are releasing map packs and not "new" maps?

The idea of the VIP program was to make sure that we had a continuous flow of content to our players, to keep the Battlefield updated with new places to fight in. We also wanted to make sure these were free of charge to the people with VIP codes. The remixed maps has worked great for this but we clearly also hear the community request for new maps. Naturally these are much heavier to create from a dev stand point and hence the lead times are longer.


A lot of players are experiencing heavy lag after Map Pack 6. Why is that?

Map Pack 6’s release coincided with an increase in player use of an exploit with the chat system which caused players on the server to lag. We have implemented chat limits to prevent this from happening and play should have returned to normal. Please report any ongoing lag problems to us on the forums.

did like 46/22 the other day

atacama desert as an engineer, it was craziness most of the time

I only got to play a couple of games last night. I joined at the very beginning of a round of Nelson Bay Rush. 16 player server, full. It was the first time I saw people seriously UAV C4'ing the MComs, at every opportunity. I was defending. It was pissing me off. We lost, but on the scoreboard I had double the number of kills as anyone on the other team, but you could tell who was bombing the MComs, his score was at the top.

The next round was on Atacama. I was like, F these guys, I'm planting mines on their MCom... I jumped on the back of a buggy heading towards the targets and jump off as the buggy heads for the nearest flag, trying to go around for B. Then I realize it switched to Conquest! Doh!

So anyway, I played the map mostly as engineer and seemed to always be spotting the enemy before they saw me. I had several instances where I came up on three guys looking the other way and got them all. Ended that round 26/7! More pins than you could fit on a screen. Ace pin, you are mine

What's the most kills+deaths you've had in a CQ round?

WOW...played on the Nightstalkers Don't Quit HC conquest server last night....absolute bloodbaths. I LOVE those games. Only played 4 rounds, 2 on white pass, 2 on Arica. I love the games where the map is leveled by half way through and there's mortar and rockets flying all over the place. You don't see them that often, maybe every couple days, but there 4 rounds in a row like that last night. The final round I played (this is with tickets starting at 300), I went 29-26. I've never been involved in that many murders before in a round...

Also, had my first triple kill last night! I don't use mortar really with the Sniper, can't figure out how to get it to work right, so I never got the chance with that. I got 3 russian soldiers with a CG blast trying to cap point C Arica.

Does the beta count? I went looking through my screen shots and found this...
