I've thought about reinstalling BF3 and grabbing premium for it since I never played any of the expansions besides BacktoKarkand, but I've heard that the cheating is pretty bad on it now though....

I do seem to have a DirectX crash if I try to set the graphics settings to Ultra. I think it might be gsync related but its also possible its VRAM related or something else entirely. Haven't yet tracked down exactly which setting is causing the crashing and have been running on high mostly but kind of annoying.

Yeah i run high settings at 1366x768 with 4x msaa on my 2gb gtx770 and pull a much higher minimum and average fps over ultra without msaa. Last patch dropped my fps quite a bit on ultra settings. Oh well gaming on my t.v seriously needs more AA anyways .😛

I'd just wait for the big patch coming later this month. If that delivers, BF4 will finally live up to its potential.

True. The problem is that they (DICE) seem to break something else everytime. The game was running pretty good before the last patch, and i think it has actually regress in terms of netcode(getting kill behind cover left and right) and GPU performance(my fps have dropped).

I would be happy if they just go back to the patch before this last one.

The DLC regressed a lot of bugs and technical fixes they had pushed out from CTE unfortunately. The game has been less playable since that DLC was released, a lot more trades and kills around corners and inconsistency in fire. The graphics settings problems I have most likely were introduced then as well. So I agree it was a classic 1 step forward 50 back from DICE, again. With a big CTE patch coming maybe things will improve, but we also have the final DLC coming and that might really mess things up again.

It took a year and this game still isn't fixed, I mean seriously?!

Just want to say I had some great games with Hondaf17 last night. His WDA clan plays some very tight BF4.

The netcode didn't seem to be slowing us down much. 😉

Also, shout out to BrightCandle and a few other guys who have talked up high-refresh monitors in other threads. Definitely enjoying 120Hz zero blur in BF4. It's actually improved my playing.

It's hard to judge the netcode. I thought it regressed for a while, but lately I haven't really had any issues with it. I've also heard people say they get better performance in CTE. So lets hope that carries over too.
Just the removal of visual recoil alone will make the game so much better.

Either way, DICE LA is doing a much better job than DICE Sweden. They must've been busy with battlefront already, they barely got anything fixed in 6 months.

Couple of questions if anyone knows:

I'm currently running everything "ultra" I believe (system in sig), and it seems ok. Is it a waste with the monitor I use, in that it's not high performance Enough to show it? I do get some slow downs or other issues occasionally, and I'm sure lowering settings to balance all the components wouldn't hurt if it's invisible on my monitor anyway?

Also, is this video about best guns per class still accurate, or has everything been rebalanced in updates? I have no idea what the popular best are.

I run a mix of settings. Things like terrain decoration and special effects etc is distracting and is a hindrance IMO so I turn them to low. All Ultra brings a lot of performance decrease for not much gain in IQ.

Not sure what video you're referencing, but here's my fave list. I play HC btw.

Assault:
SCAR-H + Angled + FH (arguably the best if you can control the recoil)
ACE 23/M416 + Angled/Ergo + FH (good for ease of use, jack of all trades)

Engineer:
AK5C + Angled + HB (little recoil, high muzzle velocity, have 1300 kills with it))
ACE 52 + Angled/Stubby + FH (similar to SCAR)

Support:
M240B + Stubby + Comp (similar to SCAR but high ROF makes it harder to control)
AWS + Stubby/Ergo + FH (ACE23 in LMG form basically)
LSAT + Stubby + FH (not the best stat wise, but light recoil and medium ROF makes it easy to just hold the trigger down even at longer ranges, 1500 kills with it)

Recon: lolwut: how about DMRs?
M39 + Angled + FH (long range)
SCARH SV + Angled + FH (medium range)

Learn to tap/burst fire and control engagements so that they suit your weapons distance and most all of the weapons will be decent. Once you do that then the higher dmg weapons like the SCAR, ACE52, M240, etc will show their superiority.

Those videos are probably old, don't consider new weapons since then and some of the new weapons are strong contenders for "best" in class. I'd argue in general there are two "best" in class weapons as there is enough difference between some to warrant a second listing.

An example of this would be the bulldog vs. ace 23 on the assault class. 20 rounds of hard hitting ammo vs 36? of lower damage bullets. Also consier RoF. 600 RoF LMG vs 800.

Generally there's a point where you can say X is better than Y because each outperforms the other in certain aspects.

I like it when people list a couple / class like cropduster did.

Well, it took me 12 hours on my awesome DSL connection, but I finally have BF3 installed! Hoping to get some games in tonight.

Thanks Termie. Fun playing with you. Our squad was doing pretty well. Fun taking C and then holding it on Lancang Dam. Good work.

FYI to all - our server has been running well lately. Fills up quickly, and most nights we have some admins on. Search "WDA / DRMB" or here's the link:

http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf...942e/WDA-DRMB-THE-GRAVEYARD-Conquest-Votemap/

Starts out as Domination and then once it populates switches to conquest with votemap.

Thanks, I linked the video.
I usually play conquest normal 64, as that's most available. I have vanilla + CR pack. Unlocked most, but not all weapons. I've been useing the following for ages, not sure if they're duds or not:

Scar-h
Cbj-ms
Qbs-09 (frag ammo)
Srr-61
Shorty 12g

I use a variety of attachments if they seem to improve gun stats overall on the bar graph thing. I always go as high mag optical scope as possible. I just recently started useing lasers as they appear to actually improve stats. Didn't use them before as I don't like giving my position away.
I don't really care that much what gun to use actually, I play for fun, not stats.
Only real preferences:
-long a range sniper rifle as possible.
-I like starburst a lot, so frag ammo of the qbs-09 is a neat backup.
-'Uzi spray' fun-factor of the Cbj-ms

Assault:
SCAR-H + Angled + FH (arguably the best if you can control the recoil)
Best long range assault by far, still is adequate for mid-short as well, love the stopping power
ACE 23/M416 + Angled/Ergo + FH (good for ease of use, jack of all trades)
I always perform better with ACE 23, for some reason I always feel like I shoot with rubber bullets with the 416 :-/
Engineer:
AK5C + Angled + HB (little recoil, high muzzle velocity, have 1300 kills with it))
ACE 52 + Angled/Stubby + FH (similar to SCAR)
AK5C is my fav by far, ACE 52 allows you to actually be effective beyond medium range.
Support:
M240B + Stubby + Comp (similar to SCAR but high ROF makes it harder to control)
All-time fav weapon in BF4, just burst fire everything to death, usually run with a PKA 3.4x sight
AWS + Stubby/Ergo + FH (ACE23 in LMG form basically)
Pre-patch, this was godly, it's still good for spam, I prefer the 249 though
LSAT + Stubby + FH (not the best stat wise, but light recoil and medium ROF makes it easy to just hold the trigger down even at longer ranges, 1500 kills with it)
Never got into the LSAT beyond unlocking everything for it, I really only need M249 and the M240b
Recon: lolwut: how about DMRs?
M39 + Angled + FH (long range)
SCARH SV + Angled + FH (medium range)

Agree almost everything but DMRs...and that's just me not liking them. Unlocking all the shiz for snipers has been a pain, just not to my playstyle.

Sounds like some of you guys are looking at in-game stats for weapons. Don't. Go here:

http://symthic.com/bf4-multi-comparison

You can see pretty much every stat on the weapons, and how attachments affect it. The damage/distance and accuracy graphs tell me pretty much everything I want to know.

This. Love the site, although I still find sometimes I perform better using other weapons, but that can be due to a multitude of factors.

If you are comparing similar classes of weapons and just can't pick between two, the proof is in the pudding. Check your accuracy and k/min, with enough time put into each weapon (around 200 kills feels right for me) you should be able to make a "final" decision.

Assault class I tend to use the SCAR-H these days with angled for control of the initial shot recoil. I used to use the FAMAS a lot but the nerf on ROF means its not longer all that good, and personally I don't like the bulldog but I have found others use it very effectively.

Engineer I tend to use the ACW-R. I find its just insane up close, one of the best short-medium range guns, easy to control and really high ROF. Its easy to tap fire at a distance as well. Sometimes I use an angled grip but I have been using a stubby of late now I have the first shot recoil more dialed in.

Support I mostly use an AWS with angled and stubby depending on the map.

I always use a flash hider, I don't find the trade offs of the Heavy barrel etc worth it.

Lately Ive been working towards getting the Master dog tag for each weapon, getting the required 500 kills then moving on to the next in line. So far I have acquired 40. If I only used the better guns that best suited my play style Im sure my stats would greatly improve, but I like the challenge of taking down people using top notch ACE 23's/Bulldogs/AWS/etc. with a crappy gun like the CBJ-MS (aka; the nail gun). It's extremely satisfying.

Video posted for the final expansion, appropriately titled, "Final stand": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqDy6D9DZz8&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Been out a few days, but I haven,t seen it posted.
I've spectated a little on CTE and the maps are huge. If you're a sniper you will love this DLC.

I wish they didn't include the futuristic weapons. I guess they are tying in 2142 or prepping for a 2143 release in the future.

Spoiler alert! Here are vids of the different maps being tested.

Yay for snow and a night map! But yeah, the futuristic stuff should be left out of BF4.

The Giants of Karelia looks like a incredible map, has that BF2 appeal and look to it which is just awesome. I never played 2142 but is this map from that game or a new map all together?

First DLC map pack to come to cte first? Like how its just on cte to iron out the issues it may have currently, also gives more people a reason to jump into cte and populate those dead servers.

GoK reminds me of FuShe Pass from BF2. I'm loving it that we finally get some new large maps. Not sure how it'll play out with a bunch of snipers in HC, will definitely need sniper limited servers I think. The future weapons are dumb though, they just don't fit with the rest of the game.
