I'm running a Reference R9 290X, single card or in X-Fire. I've got BF4 Premium Installed with the Battlefield 4 Update v104788-RELOADED installed which I assume you need for Mantle support. I have the amd-catalyst-14.4-rc-v1.0-windows-apr17 Beta driver loaded which I also assume you require the Beta Dvr for Mantle.

I do not have the Mantle API box in the Games Option/Video Tab - What am I missing ?

You guys see the news on the squad beta? This will be awesome of the group I play with. It usually takes us a round or two to all get on the same side. Then we're hesitant to leave a server if it is bad after we're all in the same squad. Other times we'll get autoblanaced away from our squad and such. Hopefully it also works for more than the squad since sometimes we can get 8 guys on.

On my view the netcode problem is that the game play for me is not consistant.

I can have rounds that i feel unstopable, and others that i have no idea why i cannot get a kill. And after reading some of the comments about the engine/game rewarding agressiveness now it makes a bit more clear.

Even with that, i still think something else is at play.

Right click on bf4 in origin and force it to launch in 64bit only.

So after playing on a pistols only Hardcore server the past week, it seems the majority of people use the compact 45. I tried it and did ok with it. Surprisingly I had the most success with the 1911. I unlocked everything for it within 2 rounds.

1911 is beast on HC, although I really like the CZ and Magnum as well.

People complain about net code issues in a game a lot and i'll be honest. Most of those people don't do to well and are making excuses. That doesn't mean the issues are imaginary though, I just don't think they make a big difference for most players. A super duper paid professional BF4 assassin might notice it, but I sure as hell don't notice any net code issues. Either that or I'm used to it and just don't care.

I agree with most of this (and I probably notice it even less than you since I don't too much sniping).

I won't say I've never lost firefights and thought the result was partially are wholly influenced by 'netcode' issues but I feel as if the overwhelming majority of my deaths were simply the result of my opposition possessing some combination of superior skill and luck.

What drives me nuts is hitting someone with several rounds and seeing hitmarkers and blood spatter, and yet suddenly I fall over dead without any indicators of even being hit by the same guy. The other thing is dying a second or two after going behind cover knowing full well those hits were impossible by what is shown on my screen. These things only happen to me when playing against people with very high pings. When going against players with pings similar to my own and I lose a gunfight, it all looks normal and any weirdness is very rare.

Im pretty sure the reason I see so much of this is because I play a lot early in the a.m. on the east coast while most US players are still snoozing. Take this morning for example; out of 32 players only 6 had pings under 120ms, and the majority were 180+, meanwhile mine were about 30ms.

I think the main issue with bf4 hit detection is the fact that it doesn't use hitscan and has ballistics. Its just another variable that makes odd crap happen.

Cod is client side and while its not perfect I would take it any day over bf hit detection.

I suspect all of the games use a combination of client and server side hit detection. You have to use server side detection to determine if the player is trying to cheat, but equally if its 100% server side then you have to compensate for latency. CS players like myself got very good at predicting the latency and using to our advantage to get our headshots but its not really how you want this to work.

The issue with BF4 is not just client side /server side detection algorithm but a number of odd things that cause hits to be inconsistent. Levelcap talked about the range of issues in a recent video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_lmRXycbM8&list=UUlMXf2oP5UiW_V4dwHxY0Mg

That I think explains what is going on as a combination of bugs and problems that ought to have been fixed long ago.

So what's the deal with this participatory bug fix program thingy? An army of gamers are now using a dev version of the game to fix net code issues? Blah, whatever. Just don't break my M98 and I'm good.
