God this game is frustrating as hell. Once second hit detection seems great. Next second you have 3 seconds of lag no matter what your ping is. Guys stationary in fornt of you can't be hit. You shoot at them, waste all your ammo, and then they turn and one hit kill you.

It's ridiculous. I have never played a game with such wonky hit registration. It's a deal breaker for me.

Yeah I keep playing a round now and then but the game is just not fun, it is frustrating and aggravating to no end. Still waiting on real fixes from DICE. Playing Kerbal Space Program in the meantime. 😀

Depends on how he is getting his kills. If he is in a vehicle, 50 KD every now and then is reasonable. Highest KD on battlelog is something like 35, but thats mainly using vehicles.

I only really paid attention in one game and every kill was with a MG4. And it was literally kill after kill after kill with him getting 20 or so of his kills in like a minute. Just not possible without some aid. This was on Team Deathmatch so no vehicles either. It was definitely one of those when you were there it was pretty obvious. Both of us moving and he fires one burst and you die. Sa,e with everyone else in game complaining of it too 🙂

Ive seen plenty of people do well in vehicles. But never getting tons and tons of kills in a minute or two. But I dont really play Conquest or anything either

Speaking of game modes, I am really clueless what to play.
I've only been playing domination and sometimes TDM, but I am sick to my stomach from the stupid spawn system, which accounts for like 50% of my deaths.
I'd play conquest, but I am absolutely rubbish with vehicles, I can't even drive a tank around without getting stuck, let alone shooting at something. Unfortunately, all of the maps are large open areas, and not really very infantry friendly.

so not true

the only not infantry friendly map IMO is golmud railway

dawnbreaker is engineers paradise for vehicle slaying

Lancang can be rough as infantry as well. It's not an especially large map but has a pretty wide assortment of vehicles available.

Really it depends on how coordinated they are for any map though. A single tank is strong but hardly overpowering, but when you have two and an LAV and a chopper overhead it gets pretty ugly being on foot.

How the heck do i unlock an assault rifle as support? I've usually played medic class before, but it seems this time everyone is medic and it is impossible to get ammo, so I thought I would go that for a while. But if the only thing I can use are these horribly inaccurate lmgs, I see why no one wants to play support.

LMG's can be nasty, you just need to know how to use them.

1. if you go full auto (holding down fire), learn how to slowly move your reticle in the opposite direction of the recoil to compensate.
2. use different firing modes - try switching your LMG from full auto to single or burst fire. This can help as it forces you to time your fire "presses" so you're not spraying all over the place.
3. use add-ons to reduce muzzle drift and/or laser sight which helps hip fire.
4. crouch and/or prone to also reduce drift.

Try lowering network smoothing, this helped me out. Default is 50%. I lowered mine to 20-30%.

I really wish I knew what the hell is going on with the netcode it doesnt make sense to me. Most servers I join where I get sub-10 ping I feel as though my shots just go through people - I am firing burst of fire with my crosshair planted in their upper chest from short to medium range and yet no hit markers.

Then I go over to this server last night where I had a ping of 30 and I felt like frickin' Rambo. I was hitting whatever I was aiming at and it felt so good!

Both were full 64 player servers, I was using same Kit same gun. What gives?

Yeah I dont know why they messed up vehicle physics so bad... driving vehicles in BF2 and even BF1942/1943 was pretty darn good, it felt a lot more natura;/realstic. In BF4 (skipping Bf3 I didnt play it much at all to remember) the vehicle physics is just asinine. If you are holding SHIFT in a fast jeep or quad and then turn, you do this bizarre donut. And the way the terrain effects the vehicle is so exaggerated.

There's a penalty for using boost which is it affects your turning. Oddly it kind of makes sense. I wish they would just remove it.
Personally I think the helicopters are way better in bf4 than bf3. bf2 was the best. I can actually fly in bf4.

I don't think the physics are too bad, I just honestly am unable to use vehicles. I'd probably loosely compare it to inability to learn to play a musical instrument. I'd drive around with some difficulties, enemy vehicle shows up, I start taking damage, and am dead before I can even aim. The moment they start shooting at me my gun starts waving around so much it's basically useless.
Sometimes I am dead before I realize which direction I am being shot at. It pisses me off, I can't even describe how much, but I just can't seem to get the hang of it.

Go in the "Test Range" and practice up.

The alternate to doing the donut would be to roll the vehicle, and you don't want that. 😉

I agree 100% about the terrain, it feels too "rough".

Anyone hear anything about a cfg file that needs to be dropped in the BF4 folder root and supposedly improves frame rates? I hesitate to post the link because it sounds too good to be true. It does come from a established member on a trusted forum but you never know. EDIT: I just did it myself and seeing a 6-7 FPS improvement. At 1440p on the sig rig, I am no longer dipping below 40 and now pushing into 50's more often and for longer periods without noticing loss of quality. Until I get an OK from an admin, I won't post the link but it appears it's just a user.cfg file, here is the content of the file:

RenderDevice.Dx11Enable 1
RenderDevice.Dx11Dot1Enable 1
RenderDevice.Dx11Dot1RuntimeEnable 1
RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 0
WorldRender.TransparencyShadowmapsEnable 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurEnable 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurForceOn 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurFixedShutterTime 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurMax 0

Interesting... I believe I found the post you are referring to and not sure why not just post the link, I found it here on reddit

I am interested in some of the other points he is making to boost performance, such as disabling hyper threading (really?) and enabling KBoost to keep GPU running at top clock rate all the time. Anyone share opinions on these other points?

I don't know whether reddit is the source, I found it on a foreign forum hence why I hesitated to post the link. It does work for me and without the other optimizations. Thanks for pasting the link, I'll look into the other tips too.

Golmud has a lot of micro urban areas though and the general rolling hills terrain makes it easier to get around in cover. I think Hainan Resort is the worst infantry map. That map is just terrible all around. Sure, the individual points generally have more cover than Golmud, but if you have to walk from point to point you are completely exposed.

Personally I find Paracel Storm the worst infantry map. Very few places to take cover, most of the time you are at the mercy of attack boats and little birds picking you off.

On Golmud you can take cover in the urban areas of Alpha/Bravo and the big factory has fairly decent cover, it often is a vehicle graveyard for those who like to storm into the middle.

Lancang has some good cover too with the main building I think it is Bravo, the building that has multiple levels, roof, not collapsible. The other objective across the drainage ditch has good cover too especially in that forest of power transformers.

Hainnan is pretty bad too mainly because the main building doesnt provide good cover, enemies come at you from all angles when you are inside, its 360 degrees threat all the time and the roof is constantly strafed by choppers

That's the reddit link I posted earlier to remove the blur. I have it set and saw minor improvements. I didn't notice the blur but honestly I wasn't looking for it (also since it appears it's a result of EMP the enemy team might have not had a commander, wasn't checking).

Yup, Hainan is just a terrible map, although it's good for attack fighters.

Hainin is just too small for the amount of vehicles, but its runnable on foot as long as you have an opening

Little Bird pilots need to learn that their absolute top priority is to clear rooftops, followed by taking out enemy Little Birds. Everything else is a distant second.
