Dawnbreaker is tiny and the one I like the least. They barely gave us enough airspace to even turn a jet without going out of bounds!so some initial impressions
the maps are too small
the only ones that feel right to me are golmud and locker
paracel is way smaller than it should be, we already knew shanghai was too small
I like the layout of most of the, esp resort and lancaum damn, they just need to be bigger
like 1.5 times the size they are now
i havent played on dawnbreaker yet, but it looks tiny
Stupidly weak. Most of the time I get 3 stinger hits on a chopper before tehy fly out of range and heal. Today I helped Bacon take one down playing while playing Rush, I saw him blasting away at one while in deplyoment so I changed to stingers and spawned on him to help. I dunno how many times he had already hit it but I hit it twice more before it went down.
Ive taken a lot of hits from stingers while flying the scout helos with very little damage at all, and I dont even use the maintenance upgrade!
I really enjoy Dawnbreaker on conquest. I tend to bounce between two flags racking up many points. It's the best map to be a foot soldier on IMO.
We had a couple of good rounds on Dawnbreaker on foot.
Yes, that was fun. I just wish squad leaders would call objectives more often. More points for everyone!
They nerfed the AA and AT weapons so much. I've hit two helicopters with the RPG (yes, with no lock on; I've had my Carl Gustav practice) and each time, they lived. I hit a tank with 3 before it killed me, and it still had around 15 health.
I think Dawnbreaker is good enough with all three types of helicopter, map is too small or too many highrises for either jet types to function properly. Also, the RCB or the DV-15 is really tough to beat if the driver, 2 gunners and the last seat with engineer know what to do, I was in one battle and my driver got 36-0 by drive the RCB around Paracel Storm..
I just want to get home to play with my super windows 8.1 BF4 rig from the future. It runs like my CPU is at 6ghz and I have dual Geforce GTX 880 Ultras. Windows 8.1! Go get it! Windows 7 hates BF4! Windows 7 hates you!
frontal hits are like 18% damage now? back is like 35 though
Ive been 1HK by a rocket launcher in the chopper though
The core parking fix is making the rounds. A dice employee commented on the reddit thread saying that Windows 8 handles the dynamic parking better and they are investigating. It might be the only reason Windows 8 is better, but if you turn off all parking there shouldn't be a difference between Windows 7 and 8.

Anyways, I checked using this utility
http://www.coderbag.com/Programming-C/Disable-CPU-Core-Parking-Utility
and 3 of my cores were parked, so its conceivable that this would make a difference if Windows is constantly trying to throttle your cpu usage in the name of energy efficiency. I didnt have time to check it out this morning, but other people in the reddit thread are reporting positive results.

I want to see a real review that shows this in the retail release -- a few percent maybe, but 10%+? I'm having a hard time believing that. The beta ran like ass on my rig in W7 -- low GPU/high CPU usage. Retail has been the opposite, similar to BF3. 99% GPU usage and ≈70% CPU.
10% I'd probably upgrade, 2-3%? Pass.
It would be easy to test for someone with windows 7. A simple test with parking on and then off should produce results that are very obvious and easy to see. Do you have windows 7? Willing to do a quick test?
I have played with core parking before in windows 7 and it did nothing. Maybe BF4 is affected in a unique way by it. All I know is that I got a performance boost that I would have never suspected possible from an OS change. I figured maybe 5-10 FPS at best, but instead I got about a 40% increase and no more stuttering panning and glitchy movement. I'll continue to be shocked for at least a full week.
I didn't have time before I went into work, and I know if I started to look at it next thing I know I'll be playing and have to use a vacation day. I'll check it out tonight though. 40% increase by using Windows 8 seems strange though, although people in the thread reported 15-25% fps increase while also moving from Med/High to Ultra settings.
Its possible something was jacked up with my windows 7 installation I suppose. It wasn't that old, but still you never know. Maybe it really is down to core parking, plus a little windows 8 optimization and combined together would have given a large increase. I may never know.
